I know I've been asking a lot in here. :-) I'm still overwhelmed and trying to sort things out.
Does anyone have any experience with Dr. W. in Northern VA (westward of DC).
I had contacted her a long time ago and she had a wait list... I asked to be added but then kind of forgot about it.
She emailed me tonight and asked if I still needed to be seen.
She's an out of network ILADS doc...
Any info would be great, if you could PM me. :-)
Thanks muches!

I don't know of any lyme doctor with initials of W. in northern Va.
Did you check with some lyme support groups in Va. or D.C.? See Support Groups on left side of page.
Try especially the National Capital Lyme Disease Association.

I got her name directly from ilads a few months ago, but she wasn't seeing new patients at the time

Just know that ILADS gives out the name of every doctor who takes their little lyme course and wants their name given out.
So, getting the name from ILADS does NOT mean that ILADS considers this doctor a lyme doctor. It also does not mean that this doctor has ever treated anyone for lyme.
All it means is that the doctor is taking advantage of the free referral service that ILADS offers doctors.
A person here on LymeNet recently posted that she went to a doctor whose name she got from ILADS. The doctor did not know anything about lyme disease and did NOT follow the ILADS lyme treatment guidelines. The person was very upset by the experience.
She told her story to her new top notch lyme doctor recently and the doctor said that ILADS realizes this is happening all too often. They are trying to come up with a test or some other way to ensure that the names they are giving out are only doctors that do actually follow the ILADS guidelines.
So, all lyme patients should beware.
I recommend that people NOT use these services (ILADS is just one; I believe LDA does the same) without then asking actual lyme patients about these doctors. Otherwise, you will just waste your time and money and energy.
Or, better yet, just ask for names here on LymeNet. That saves a lot of time and gives you personal references which are extremely important when it comes to picking a lyme doctor.

Yes, always ask for names here.

edited to say: Most names I have gotten from here are not taking patients or were thought by me to be ones that did not meet my needs.
I've done more research and decided on seeing one that I previously thought would not work for me, but I am now comfortable and happy with seeing! Thank you for all your help! :-)

I can give you a name who will see you within 2 weeks. You just have to ask me for a name.
