Hi all again and Good evening,

I need a little help, my situation goes that I am actively seeking someone who can treat chronic Lyme. I made an appt with Dr. M in PA. Not sure who he is or reviews on him.

I went to the ILADS website and emailed them for a referral (I don't even know if i am doing this correctly) and they sent me a list of 3 doctors.

The other DR. I am considering is in NY. He is Dr. B.
I don't know if this is someone who is extremely knowledgeable because I contacted them thru the ILADS website.I don't know but I do see he accepts medicare insurance.

Just because ILADS gave me his contact does that mean he might be an excellent doctor?

I Need to find an excellent Dr. for someone with Chronic Lyme hopefully under 2hrs driving time if possible. I am in the southern tier of NY which is Binghamton NY area.

I tell people not to get names from ILADS. They don't know anything about the doctors they are giving you.

ILADS will give out the name of any doctor who wants their name given out. All they have to do is take the short ILADS lyme course.

So, doctors do it to get referrals. Meanwhile, the doctor may have never treated a lyme patient in his life, never cured anyone of lyme, doesn't follow the ILADS lyme treatment guidelines, etc.

One top lyme doctor has told a patient that ILADS now recognizes that this is a problem, and they are working on a solution.

So, get names from this board, lyme support groups (see "Support Groups" on left side of page), and other lyme patients who are knowledgeable. Don't waste your time looking into doctors names given out by ILADS.

Personal recommendations are the way to go when it comes to lyme doctors. Get LOTS of input before spending lots of money on a doc.

And, consider the source of each recommendation. If the person is new to lyme and this is their first lyme doctor, their opinion is worthless. They are a "lyme virgin" just happy to be believed and get treated.

If the person has seen a few top lyme doctors, their opinion is valuable.

If the person has been cured of lyme disease, their opinion is gold!

If you want to write to me privately and tell me the names of the 2 doctors, I will tell you what I know about them.

I got rid of lyme, babesiosis, and bartonella over 8 1/2 years ago now. Praise God! I went through a few lyme doctors before I found one who knew enough to cure me.

The doc is the key to getting rid of this horrendous disease. Can't emphasize that enough. Many doctors treat lyme disease, but only a very few know enough to get rid of it for a person. You have to find one of those few.

Also, the top lyme doctors do NOT accept Medicare. In fact, it is very difficult to find a good lyme doctor who does.

Is this a requirement for you?

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

The top Lyme doctor, Dr. H, just released a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.
