Hello,

I am searching for a Lyme-literate doctor for my daughter, who is 13.

She has chronic symptoms that I'm pretty sure are related to complications of Lyme.

She was diagnosed at age 7 after several misdiagnoses.

Sorry for posting this at the end of a different person's topic....I hadn't read through the guidelines at first.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for PA & MD.

Your dear daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

LLMDs are far and few between, so you need to go where they are!

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/2/15615?#000005s

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pennsylvanialyme

Maybe they can help you.

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
