HI we found a nymph tick on my son of 2 years. It had been there for at least 4 days - we thought it was a tiny scab. We sent the tick to a lab where it was confirmed positive for Lyme. We are concerned bc our doctor will not prescribe any antibiotic as a precaution.

Its been about 17 days since we spotted the tick and the only symptom we noticed was a 101 fever that occurred about a week after the tick was found. We are seeking a LLMD for the Albany NY area. Thank you for your help!

Rebecca

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for NY.

Your dear son needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD) a.s.a.p!! Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in faster to see a LLMD by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/newyorklyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

www.empirestatelymediseaseassociation.org

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems form Lyme. Thanks.
