Same here I am in Galax.. If she finds one please let me know.. Do you know of any that have tried the doc in Lexington? Been thinking of making the trip but surly there is one closer.. You would think Winston-Salem would have one.. Good luck

Robi101 - Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for VA & MD.

Your friend needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately! Your friend needs to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"

Have your friend check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/virginialyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources (including Support Group info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also have your friend read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

phyl6648 - you need to write a new post instead of adding to an existing one. That way, more people will see it and respond.

PM sent to you for VA & MD.
