My brother in law had a small tick on him overnight. Primary care doctor put him on 2 weeks of Doxy. His doctor said he is getting a lot of patients in with tick bites.

A EM rash developed in a different area of his body, probably from a previous bite.

He needs to see a LLMD. He is in the Lake Anna area of Virginia. Fredericksburg or Richmond but he will travel.

Appreciate all doctor suggestions.

Elaine

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for VA & MD.

Your brother-in-law needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/virginialyme

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources (including Support Group info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
