Hello, I'm seriously considering going to Dr. H

in NY. You know the one who just wrote a book

about not getting better, the one who was head of

Ilads, well I'm going through the process of

filling out his potential patient questionnaire

and I was wondering what other's had to say about

him. Has he helped? Was he easy to work with, was

the wait long to finally get an appointment,

etc. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:

Maybe they can help.

I don't know since I haven't been there, but I think the wait is pretty long.

Look at this thread:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/3/34375?

Also, I have heard that the office has stopped giving appointments with Dr. H. His office has been closed to new patients for about 11 months now.

A few months back, someone said the wait to see him was one year or that 300 people were on the wait list. Maybe they were exaggerating.

However, people on the wait list are now being offered appointments with the new doctors that Dr. H has brought into his practice.

I know the 2 staff that Dr. H has had for years are both good. But, I have also heard that you can't get appointments with either of them right now either.

Maybe you can contact the office for the latest info. or check his webpage.

With the help of someone on this board we learned of a possible opening last Aug, so I called and called and got an appt for my son. We flew in to see him from out of state. We went up there again in Jan at the end of treatment.

I would highly recommend him, and the PA that is on his staff. In fact we saw the PA first and had 6 week conf calls with him and only saw Dr. H at the very end. The PA is extremely knowledgeable and has been doing this for almost as long as Dr. H. They are very through and will leave no stone left unturned. We went for an acute infection so our case is a little different than most here on this board. I am knowledgeable about Lyme and co-infections so I was able to have intelligent conversations and was able to follow their line of thinking when it came to treatment options.

You can also call and see if they would recommend anyone in your immediate area or region, if you are not able to get in. Ask to be placed on the cancelation list at any LLMD you contact.

There are other good LLMD's out there, you just have to do your research and get opinions.

Good luck to you.

I see Dr. H & he is my 2nd LLMD. What I can say is that he does everything in his bag of tricks to get you better. When everyone would have given up on you, he is one of the rare ones that will push forward & try things beyond what can be expected.

Lyme is a complex disease & treatment scenarios various for everyone. He & his top level workers are such good LISTENERS & care so much. Not many doctors really listen to their patients & respond well to what the patient is actually saying. Most just fall on deaf ears, but not Dr. H & his staff.

Thank GOD for Docs & people like him in this world. I wish all docs would do the same & it is just sad that they don't.
