I was diagnosed with Lyme disease in August after suffering what appeared to be a stroke. Finished four weeks of antibiotics and now Infectious Disease doc won't treat further without a spinal tap. Symptoms are back and I need to find someone who will treat me. I can tell from my visits with him that he just thinks I am crazy. Thank you for any help you can give in finding a good doctor that's close to Northern KY.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for IN & OH.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"

I don't know of any LLMDs in KY.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/statenamelyme

Maybe they can help.

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.

I could use a referral too. I was diagnosed last year and symptoms appear to be returning. I am in Cincinnati but I will travel anywhere in the tristate area if necessary.
