Hi there,

I am looking for an LLMD for my father who lives in Greenport, NY. Connecticut is an easy trip for him on the New London Ferry, and my strategy is to get him out of NY, until the new legislation passes protecting drs there. My father has had at least 15 deer tick bites in the last few years and it sounds to me like he's got a mean case of Babesia brewing. I speak from experience (LD 20+ yrs.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, JB

PM sent for CT.

Your Dad needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease and its complex treatment!

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Connecticutlyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
