My college aged daughter has a type 2 heart block and a pace maker was inserted. I fear the heart block is a result of lyme carditis with a mycoplasma coinfection. Looking for a lyme cardiologist or doctor who can rule out or confirm that she has Lyme disease.

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CT.
Your dear daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease and its complex treatment!
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are.
Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.
Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

Hi Misty918, Unfortunately there is no such thing as a Lyme literate cardiologist.(that I have found) I have been physically removed from cardiologist offices for mentioning Lyme. They are not receptive to it. I have had/have many cardiac issues and am facing surgery again but like both of my LLMDs have said "Do not mention the L word in the cardiologist office!"
It would be a big help to find cardiologists that are open to it but my personal experience is to get a referral from a primary and never mention Lyme at you appointment.
I had a sever "unknown bacterial" infection in my heart according to the cardiologist that did an emergency port into my heart to start IV abx. But when I told them I had Lyme after the procedure in the hospital I was immediately discharged when I mentioned I had Lyme disease.
I hope you find someone that can help you and keep you LLMD updated when you find a cardiologist so they can work with what your cardiologist is doing.
