Looking for primary doctor for chronic lyme treatment in Montgomery County PA

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for PA & MD.

Are you looking for a Primary Care physician who is Lyme-literate? I don't think most Lyme specialists will be PCPs.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:

Maybe they can help.

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

It is now 7 or so years after treatment from LLMD who treated for about one and half years. Moved and she is too far to go back to. Had primary doc but he was not on board with lyme, just pain management. Lyme symptoms are extremely painful. But have an extreme case of candida over 2 years which is resistant to every possible drug you can imagine. Really looking for any doctor who can address pain & candida. Any thoughts?

Your best bet would be to contact the PA Lyme Support Groups (www.lymepa.org is a very knowledgeable group). They would probably know best.

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.
