Hello. I need help! I am in the New Orleans area for a couple of months treating a concussion with HBOT. I just found out that I am positive for lymes from my regular doctor in VA. I know there are lots of lymes doctors there in Virginia but I am here in Louisiana with a diagnosis that explains SO MUCH that I have gone through over the last five years. I never got the rash and I thought the gastro symptoms were candida. The neurological symptoms are the worst. Anxiety and depression. While on oxygen these last five days the problem is either "growing" or "herxing". I do not want to do anything detrimental since so much has already been done incorrectly. I did suffer the "flu like" symptoms in 2010 for several days and thought nothing of it. I am originally from Texas and had just moved to Middleburg Va. Go figure. Please help. My doctor even put me on Cortef 5 mg in the morning to help with the joint pain...arghhhhhh....!

NEW ORLEANS LYME DOCTOR NEEDED...!

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for Louisiana & VA.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

They are far and few between, unfortunately. You need to go where they are.

Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner to see a LLMD by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LouisianaLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):
www.lyme-aware.org/louisiana.html

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Louisiana/

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw - please break up your posts into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are people on Lymenet who cannot read large blocks of text due to neurological problems from Lyme. Thanks.
