I have not been on this board in YEARS. I come urgently seeking a LLMD for my sister's kid who has lyme and the doc won't test for coinfections or treat with anything more than doxy. He is in bad shape. Needs help immediately. They are in Phoenixville in Chester county. Thank you for your help! Trails

Hi, trails!!
YOUR MAILBOX IS FULL! Posted by hopingandpraying (Member # 9256) on :
What age is your nephew? Some LLMDs only treat adults, others only children (sometimes only certain ages) while others treat both. Info is needed so we know which doctors to refer you to.

I did some mailbox clean up, so there should be room. Sorry about that!
My Nephew is 11years old.
Thanks for any help!

Welcome back to Lymenet! PM sent for PA & MD.
Your nephew needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!
A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.
Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. He needs to go where they are.
Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
When calling for an appointment, have the parents ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.
The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a new book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.
Have his parents read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at the local library or buy it used on Amazon.

deevee - Welcome to Lymenet!
You should write a new post instead of adding on to an existing one. That way, more people will see it and respond, because most don't re-read old posts.
Are you looking for a pediatric LLMD or one who treat adults?
