Hi,

I am looking for a lyme dr for my 27 year old dr. She has been ill with neck and arm pain for a year now. She has been to so many doctors, had multiple MRI's, EMG/NCV and lyme tests. Dr calling it Fibermyalia and Torrasic Outlet Syndrome. On the Western Blot positive on band 58.

We live in the hudson valley, Orange County New York. can travel to Rockland, Sullivan Or Westchester counties or NYC. Dr H is not taking new patients.

can go to north or central New Jersey. Ct on the NewYork border is also Ok.

I have been able to get possible apps with Dr. B in NY and Dr. M's assistant in NYC. I have read reviews on both some good some bad.

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

** edited to remove doctor's names and cities **

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for CT.

Your dear daughter needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

LLMDs are far and few between, unfortunately. She needs to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When calling for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/StateNameLyme/info

*Note: write in the state you are looking for in "StateName".

Maybe they can help.

Some more resources for you (including Support Groups info):
www.lyme-aware.org

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

View "Under Our Skin" for free on www.hulu.com

Btw - many have gone through the same thing as your daughter. It took six years just to find out what was wrong with our son and he had many different "diagnoses".

You need to keep researching and Lymenet is an excellent source of information. Read it everyday.

Did you try Dr. F?

(editing out doctor's last name per LN rules and sending a PM to Petterpan)
