Looking for LLMD in the Tri-state area. I am willing to drive to get help for my friend. She has been under care, but she is getting worse. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I know you got some referrals in one of your other threads, but I'm just bumping this up in case anyone has more input.

The doc TF recommends is a very good LLMD.

Thank you. We need someone to help quickly. I will be making more calls today. She was having severe chest pain, shortness of breath, and trouble speaking last night. Took her to ER and they said she is fine and healthy! Crazy. She can barely walk from weakness. We need help. She hasn't been able to even get her girls to school without help. I will find help

I am going to reach out to the doc that TF recommended. It would be better for her if I can find someone closer. I'm not sure how she would do traveling. I see there is one in Columbus OH area. I just don't know if that is a good choice.

I already sent you a PM with info for OH, IN & MO.

Your dear friend needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. She needs to go where they are. I don't know of any in KY.

Also, most LLMDs do not take insurance due to the politics surrounding this disease. Read poster TF's explanation about this:

"Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance"
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

When you call for an appointment, ask if they have any cancellations or a waiting list. Call every day if you have to! Patients have been able to get in sooner by doing this.

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/KentuckyLyme/info

Maybe they can help.

The top LLMD, Dr. H, has written a book entitled, "Why Can't I Get Better?". It is an excellent source of information.

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Get it at your local library or buy it used on Amazon.
