A SPECT scan was recommended to me by an LLMD.
Has anyone had experience with Amen in DC? any SPECT scan experience at another facility? Was it helfpul? Any feedback would be helpful!

Contact the DC Lyme Support Group at:

www.natcaplyme.org

Maybe someone can give you more information about this particular facility.

My SPECT scan was helpful in that it showed hypoperfusion--since it was demonstrating how blood flowed in my brain and caused reduced oxygen and nutrients.....explaining some of my symptoms, and supporting a need for treatment.

I had mine done at Columbia, but there are probably closer places for you, particularly if they have some knowledge of lyme.

It does involve radiation.

I had one years ago and it helped get insurance to pay for my IV. The SPECT did show the hypoperfusion on the one side- much better test to get than a spinal tap. But there is radiation involed. I then had the SPECT done after IV and it showed improvement. I am not cured but I used it as a tool to gage and help with insurance. Most big hospitals do the test. I had done mine in Morristown NJ.
