I have had Lyme for 18 years. I actively treated with all the best LLMD's in the area and had 10 years of all types of antibiotics without ever resolving all of my symptoms.
About 4 years ago I decided to go through the cryopreservation of eggs in hope of being able to have a baby in the future. I am now ready to use those eggs and just read on Dr J's discussion that even preserved eggs can be infected.
I was planning on taking antibiotics once I became pregnant but thought the transfer of Lyme was through the placenta. Does anyone have any information on this or a doctor who would be able to help in the NY,NJ CT area. thank you

I wonder if coinfections were all considered in your case - not just the typical ones but also mycoplasma and Cpn? I just hope that maybe as you search out your pregnancy path that there might be one stone unturned for you.
And not just about lyme, coinfections would need to be considered with any pregnancy as antibiotics won't work for some of those. Bartonella, especially, can be passed on to baby.
Any pets in your home might also get tested for bartonella. And avoid any pet kisses to your face - for both mom-to-be and dad-to-be.
The father's health in regard to lyme / TBD should also be considered. Bb has been found in sperm. Not sure about other coinfections.
I don't want to weigh you down with all the other considerations, just hope you find all you need so that it will all go swimmingly.

Be sure whoever guides you with antibiotic or other Rx treatment is very much lyme literate. I wish you the very best as you put all the pieces together for how to proceed and that your family to be will be healthy, indeed. It's entirely possible.
Along with a LLMD . . . you might also contact a LL ND (naturopathic doctor) for good support methods. Liver and kidney support is essential during any treatment. A LL ND will know the best for pregnancy.
Lyme can create issues with blood sugar stability. So can pregnancy. A LL ND would also know how to approach this to help keep blood glucose steady. Ginger may be one helper in that regard.
GINGER capsules are considered safe and are a nice helper for vertigo and nausea, often used in pregnancy to help manage morning sickness - and lessen pain, too.
Still, a LL ND will know so many other pregnancy safe approaches as well. -

- When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods, because lyme is so very complex & unique, as are possible coinfections.
If at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL ND (lyme literate naturopathic doctor) (or similar) who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present, and has completed the ILADS Physician Training Program (see: www.ilads.org )
so they really know all they can about the science of lyme . . . how lyme (& other TBD) act and what we can do about that in various ways. Proper ASSESSMENT of not just lyme but coinfectoins is vital. Someone trained by ILADS is best to assess.
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.

I would also recommend you call the top Lyme pediatrician, Dr. J. He has put together a protocol for pregnant women with Lyme which can be followed with your own doctor. Many women have gone on to have healthy babies.
