Hi,

Myself and a few friends locally with chronic Lyme want to try to make a small difference by creating and posting flyers regarding Lyme/tickbites along local nature trails.

As it can only be one letter-size page long, I am having trouble formulating it so that I get the right, most attention-grabbing and IMPORTANT info on there, without making it into a novel.

Has anyone done any before, if so, are you willing to share your ideas with us?

DLL

(hmmm then there's the issue of educating the local doctors so when the enlightened people start turning up there suspecting they have LD, they can actually get help)...That's a big task, I know.

Large print:
BEWARE of
Lyme Disease!
[big picture of a tick, with caption "tick that most often carries lyme. (Actual size: "[little tick sized dot in a box] ).
Next to this, a picture of a typical rash, with a caption,
"Typical rash from Lyme- carrying tick; This rash does not always appear, but is a sure indicator of Lyme if it does"

Bold Text: ( "Bullets" by each item)
Tuck pants into socks.

Spray insect repellent with deet on shoes and socks.

Stay on widest possible trails, and avoid underbrush.

Light colored clothing is best. Stay on the lookout for ticks- check yourself often.

If you must sit down be extremely careful to look for ticks and check yourself after getting up!

small print:
If you experience flu-like illness within a few weeks after your visit, see a doctor, preferably a true lyme specialist. Information and names of Lyme specialists might be obtained from the Lyme Disease Association at [phone #]. or by visiting http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/Ultimate.cgi

That migt be a start. Good luck, and Kudos!

OK, DanQ, put that into html, if you could.
Or Keep this up near the top and I will try when I have time.
-- I say this because than I thing that most printers will print it as it appears whn viewed by a standard web browser.

DLL,

I keep seeing myself traveling across country with a table outside of my campsite with information on it about lyme disease.

(Could be a way of coping with cabin fever for over two and half years now.)

I also see myself speaking at schools to educate teachers and parents about what to look for in a child that may be lyme related.

Your idea is a good one. And if you don't mind, I would like a copy of whatever it is you come up with.

I will also keep it in mind and see if I can come up with some ideas for you.

Hi everyone,

I just remembered to check this thread - I did complete a prototype flyer last night.

It is just on a lettersize piece of good paper with tick-pics at the top and a header:

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT LYME DISEASE (Borreliosis).

Then short blurb: ABOUT TICKS (where they live, etc).

List of localized early disease sx

and

List of late/disseminated disease sx

Luckily my friend is the warden for the local nature reserve and he said he'll put the flyers up.

if someone wants a copy of what I did, just email me.
