There really is already a practicle way to see better. A light can be shined underneath the hand/arm.

Now if I could just get the tech to give a darn. My doc suggested a blood pressure cuff instead of that painful little rubber tie they use. The tech actually tried it once but their cuff didn't work right, couldn't hold the pressure, so they just went right back to the tie.

I have had several incompetent/uncaring phlebotomists, to the point that I don't really want to do this anymore.

I have little baby veins.
There is something called a vein light that is used on me. Usually it is in the pediatric ward of a hospital so ask for it! It is a light that you lay your hand on.

Or bring your own flashlight. You can shine it on the underside of your arm/hand and it will help a great deal.

I should clarify that I have actually found a tech that does care and is good. One good person after several bad experiences with other phlebotomists. I have followed her around like a faithful dog. And only go the bare minimum of times because I have had about all the bloodletting I can stand.

Yesterday, I had 8 tubes of blood removed from a vein in my hand, which is the only place now that it can be found reliably. Can't believe she got that much. In the past have had the needle clot off in no time flat.

Two of the tubes were for blood tests that had to be repeated because the lab didn't get it right the first time.
