I saw my first tick of the season outdoors. I know that I shouldn't have waited to spray until I saw one, but I did.

What are the recommended chemicals to spray with and the timelines?

I am concerned about the toxicity of the chemicals because my children play in the yard, but also want to kill the ticks that could kill us!!

I had Ehrlich Pest Co spray my dog's fenced area. I showed him the stuff I had bought at the hardware store and he said it was very toxic but what he used was safe. (of course)

Our neighborhood is extremely infected and everyone is looking for products.

A friend sent this site:
http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/self/23

At the Hope to Heal conference Dr. Burrascano spoke of property protection as a responsible response.

Reduce the tick population! He said they find between 240-260 ticks per deer.

He mentioned Damminix and mouse bait boxes and permethrins.

You might check Garden's Alive--I got something from them I haven't had the energy to spray.

Also, for any gardeners--the WOW WithOutWeeds is worth its weight in gold. After using twice a year for three years you wont have any new weeds.

Guinnes are best--but the neighborhood restrictions wont allow them.

Hi-

I don't spray the grass, but keep it short. I spray the bushes around the house and yard edge and under the decks. The kids aren't supposed to play in the bushes. I'll spray this Fri pm and then the kids will be away for the long week-end.

Hey there, "Notso" Bigmamma

go to OT and ask Mo and 3 Great kids about Bugrepel, or just do a search there. Mo did an expiriment with it, seems to work and smells good too. it's an essential oil blend. sounds great, i gotta get some ordered!

as Mo said in her post about it, the website is a little - uh - wierd... but the product is what matters, and she likes it. 3greatkids ordered some too but hse's been kind of busy and hasn't let us know yet what she thinks of it.

my sister uses Equine Bug Off.

she has a herd of guineas running the yard too.
