Hi all~
Just wanted to encourage you to NOT give up when your insurance company says that they won't cover something.
Mine said they wouldn't cover my IV rocephin. I wrote a letter back with references attached. They covered it.
Then they said they would only cover 6 weeks. I wrote another letter back with more references. They've covered the next 6 weeks.
(We'll see if they cover the NEXT six weeks! )
They didn't cover my evaluation at Columbia Univ. Medical Center saying it was for "mental health reasons" (due to the neurocognitive testing done there).
I circled the LYME EVALUATION on the form from Columbia, and sent references back stating that cognitive testing is as much a part of a lyme work up as is a brain SPECT scan and blood work.
I have not heard back from them yet, but I don't think they can deny this claim either.
The point is, that they are in the business of keeping your money. They want you to give up trying to get them to pay for your medical care. Don't give up! At least try to write some letters!
Best of luck....

timaca,
Good for you!
I agree with you that it is almost expected for you to give up. We know we can't do that, it's just tough to fight when every little bit of energy you can muster up with this dreaded disease is used up just getting dressed. Keep up the fight to get healthy.

Thanks for this. I fear too many people give up if they are turned away. You have to be a fighter and demand answers.
