My neighbor made an appointment to see an Infectious Disease MD due to concerns re: health and possible Lyme. She had be dx with typhus, cmv and the good old "I really don't know what is wrong with you". Feels great on doxy. Can't function due to joint pain, fatigue, fever, night sweats, hair falling out, etc. when off of doxy. I told her she may want to get a WB for Lyme. Saw ID duck about a month ago. Told him her symptoms. He said that she didn't have typhus, doubted the dx of CMV and suggested Lyme. He took 7 vials of blood that day and asked her to stay off antibiotics for 4 weeks, till next appt. He went on a 3 wk vacation. My neighbor also has numerous cysts on her liver as well as low, low platelet count issues. She saw him today, expecting maybe a Lyme dx. This duck told her he didn't even draw a Western Blot for Lyme 4 wks ago. He suggested an ELISA. Good thing I've been downloading and giving her all the Lyme info I can find. Did suggest she skip him and go straight to my LLMD, but at the time she thought he was adequate. Well...he was fired today and my neighbor is getting an appt with my LLMD. She was very tolerant of the whole episode, but I think I would have had to pull out my broom and fly around on it for a while. Hope she can get the right dx. and the right treatment. This was a "tropical illness" MD, who is supposed to specialize in Lyme. What a joke. He didn't even run the right blood work after suggesting Lyme. The information, support and vast amounts of Lyme education have helped me help her. Thank you all. Will keep you updated as she called today to get an appt. with my LLMD. Geneal

Might want to give her some info on Ehrlichia -- the low platelets could be a clue. Also the ususal treatment for that is Doxy. Bea Seibert
