I just had this idea last night... most of us lyme brain and make mistakes in our speech. I do it all the time -- rearrange letters in sentences, say something backwards, etc.

I thought whenever one of us made a slip-up that we thought funny, we could post it and all laugh about it together (not in a make-fun-of type of way, but just to laugh together because we all know what it's like). Every time it happens you can come here to post it.

I'll go first: The other day my husband and I were talking about pizza. I had meant to say pizza crust but ended up saying pust. [bonk]

That is a good one.

I had to bring snacks for my daughter today at school (her birthday).

She wanted cupcakes and apple juice.

I ate lunch with her and told her that I had brought the cupcakes and applesauce.

She was real upset there for a minute. [Big Grin]

I do this all day long every day.

My prayer is that I don't do that in Court next week. [shake]

Hugs,

Geneal

Ok, this is bad....I "know" I do this all the time. And as I sit here trying to remember one of those times to post....you know I can't remember one? Sad, Sad, Sad...well, if I manage to remember one in my fogged up brain...I'll be back...

Hi all,

well this just happen last night, I had to redo my printer!

I asked my b/f where he put it, he said u have it, said no I don't.

I even looked for it, well duhhh lyme brain me,went right past it last night even picked it up and looked at it!

Didnt read the whole title to it, "thought" I did lol!

Relooked today... guess what I found in my draw... yep the cd to the printer!

I was like omg I even picked this up last night! i noticed right under the title utilities and drivers was "printer".

So I had to applogize to my b/f today! Felt like a real a$$ on that, but we laughed at me over it!

Have alot more of those stories, but that is the only one fresh in my lyme brain that I remember right now.

Be back with another one

Best wishes,
blazinglyme [bonk] [dizzy]

As a speech therapist, I have often worked with patients with anomia (difficulty pulling words).

Word errors can be just a transference of letters like saying pot for top.

It can be a substitution of a word from the same basic category like saying green for blue (both colors).

Or it can be that you just can't pull the word at all.

Lucky me, I get all three of these.

Mostly I laugh about it, but on a more serious note, wonder

If I will ever work professionally again.

Can you imagine me giving the wrong name of a part of the brain to someone because

That was all I could "pull" when speaking? [shake]

I do the "thingy" one a lot too. You know that thing. The thing that you do this with.

Sometimes it is just that I can't get my lips, tongue, etc. to coordinate well enough

To produce "real" speech and I just speak what I call "Chinese".

My kids really like that. They think it is funny.

Here's to better speech and language days to come. [Smile]

Hugs,

Geneal

The other day I told my kids "it's a good movie for a night" (instead of a good night for a movie) and didn't realize I had said anything wrong until they told me.

The other day I was talking to a friend I don't see very often and a whole long sentence came out with all the words in the wrong order. After I said it, I looked puzzled and told him I was having trouble with word order today ... he said it was okay he understood what I was trying to say.

Good thing he did ... I'm not sure I would have even remembered what I was trying to say ... it's my first Levaquin/Bart herx and it's having some of the funniest cognitive symptoms yet!

Thank goodness for the cognitive symptoms or this disease would be all pain and fatigue!

I have a terrible time if I get started typing something, I have this tendency to type entire words backwards, spelled correctly, but backwards!

Not to mention all of the goofy things (like doubling the wrong letter in a word!)Or hitting the wrong button on the keyboard and think, whaaaat the heck did I just do, and what the *%&^ am I looking at?????

AAaaahhhh, the life of a Lymie!!!! [dizzy]

I do mix up word & sentences sometimes....not even close to like it was before treatment.

The funny thing is now my hubby ( who calls it Lyme Speak ) is starting to understand my lyme speak [Smile]

For instance, we where having hamburgers for dinner the other night ~ Lyme speak~ "do you want your mums heated up in the picrowave".

...translated "Do you want your buns heated up in the microwave" [Smile]

Gotta laugh [Big Grin]

Yesterday when the nurse came into my messy bedroom to change my PICC dressing I said, "Excuse the mess. I'm not the Clean of Queen."

Just said this earlier today and my husband and I had a big laugh about it:

We were talking about the apple pie we made some months ago. We had made our own crust out of graham crackers. I was talking about it and I said, "graham crapper"!!!! because obviously my mind mixed up apple and cracker... [loco]

Then later that night I was talking to my husband and said, "Do you annoy me?" And I meant to say, "Do I annoy you?" LOL. My husband said, "Is that a freudian slip or something?" haha [Wink]
