14: The route was harder for me to walk since it's hilly.... but not REAL steep. Anyway, I walked ...2.25 miles
16: I walked 2 miles today!
17: I had to lay low today too. I have sciatic nerve pain on both sides today. That's never happened to me. Had to take pain pills....something I don't do unless I'm miserable.

Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes Now Strikes One in Four Americans
The number of Americans with diabetes has grown to about 24 million people, or roughly 8 percent of the U.S. population.
A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on data from 2007, indicates an increase of about 3 million cases since over just two years. The CDC estimates another 57 million people have a condition called pre-diabetes, which puts people at increased risk for the disease.
Diabetes results from defects in insulin production that cause sugar to build up in the body. It is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S.

How to Avoid Becoming a Statistic
Getting appropriate and regular amounts of exercise, and adopting an eating plan that emphasizes good fats, and reduced non-fiber carbohydrates and starches as outlined in my Total Health Program, can place you on the right path.
Doing so will greatly improve and even reverse type 2 "insulin resistant" diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, many other chronic diseases of aging, all without the use of potentially dangerous drugs

Sun am: 1 1/2 hr outing in pc est this am.
Sun pm: 2 hr outing. Able to be present for a banjo tune and a song, then needed to leave.
Put on a dress and shoes I have not worn since I came down sick. Also able to put some mascara and lipstick on.
the funny thing is when I took the sandals off the leather part was still on my feet. Realized I had not worn these sandals as I needed to buckle them and had not been able to in the past.
Now, I can put my feet up on something to buckle them. Still not easy, but I did it.
Good to be out. I had forgotten how much I enjoy the quiet of the early morning. it also was cool this am which is a pleasant change although it ws warming up as I headed home.
I was hoping to attend a Bible Study but it did not start until 9:30 am. It wore me out just getting to the church. I was able to meet the pastor and a couple of other people.
The church had room for my Power chair to where I would be out of the way. If I am up to it, i will try to attend tonight's service.
it is tricky though. An hour and a half is about my limit. If it takes an hour and a half just to cruise down there and back this is not good. It is not that far...perhaps 5 min by car..but I need my power chair.

this means you do not need to stay down wind from me now when we are on the trail.

Geesh Hiker, sounds like you might need to start training for the Boston Marathon at the rate you are going.
My tendons are feeling better, yahoo, day 3 off the Levaquin so I'm hopeful they will heal quickly. They are still tight and sore but there is definite improvement.
I am just SOOOOOO sick though! What is wrong with me?? What kind of a freaking stupid question is that?
Wish I knew how to put in all the pretty pictures like Kam does. I've seen the directions, but no can do.

Tracy,
The pics are a milestone for me sort of. I wished I could do that for years too...since I signed on in 2003.
It seemed after I started the xango ...guesssing almost a year ago..I was able to...don't know if the xango had anything to do with it or not.
I also started taking supplements about that time too for the first time.
Still pretty limited on what i can do brain and body wise.
botton line is you will get there too. It may take several tries like it did with me. Kind of a low priority in the big picture of things.

Since I know that it's possible that I may not be quite as active when I first get my port-a-cath installed on Friday, I did go visit one of my daughters living in Boston since she is just there for the summer until she goes back to college.
She had wanted me to see her apartment, but I kept having to cancel (we all know how that goes), but I made it yesterday.
We had dim sum in Chinatown and wandered around Northeastern College campus where her boyfriend goes and then to her apartment.
All in all, I think I got in a good THREE MILES of walking yesterday!!!!!!!!!
Today, my right knew is huge and swollen. I did NOT hurt it, twist it, bump it or anything that I can remember. Anyone know what might cause this?
In any case, I did get in my three miles. So although I'm still bringing up the caboose, I am trying to get up and running.

Mouse is working better today. May be able to cut and paste for summaries.
I did a disk clean up and defrag.
Tues am: 2 hr outing in sit up PC/around the block/senior van/grocery store/senior van/home.
Tues noon: est 30 min outing in PC.
Tues pm: 20 min outing in PC est.
I also was able to do 5 to 10 min of putting laundry away and 5 to 10 min of putting clean dishes away. Tres bien.
And I was able to bake the cornish hen that I was unable to bake last night.
Good Day today!!
Just about in tears while at the grocery store. Shopped at the other grocery store today. I think it was the noise. I forgot to bring my ear muffs.
I find the other store more lyme friendly. The cashier forgot to give me my postage stamps.
I was happy my lyme brain remembered them.
The bagger put freezer stuff in regular bags and put paper products in the freezer bag. So, my freezer stuff was dethawed while I waited for the senior van to come....20 min. Then about 10 or 15 min ride home.
It was frozen fresh fruit so I just put them in the freezer to refreeze. I think it will be OK.
Don't know about the fish. I put it in to refreeze too.
Same with refrigerated stuff.
Hope it is all OK. Some was chicken salad from the deli. Guessing it has mayo in it.
And a turkey salad from the deli.
Hopefully, I will remember to just eat a small bit at first to see if it is OK or not.

If I could figure out how to post a picture I would put in a lawn mower. Mowed for a hour today. Wiped me out. Either the homeopathy I started Friday or the Lightworks machine is making me very tired and more off balance.
Not sure I will walk today, but can I count my mowing as walking? Hiker53 7/23

Hey! Major accomplishment. I can now put my shoes on. I have been able to take them off, but needed someone to put them on. This is 8 days straight of putting them on.
Now I don't need my (soon to be gone) husband to do it anymore.
Also been watering the plants every morning.

Thurs: est 20 min outing in PC. Still not able to walk ..even if it is just into the dog park and back from the car. Guessing it is the heat.
Thurs pm: 20 min outing est in PC. HOt HOT HOT
But, lyme doc will have me back on abx in a month if it does not improve soon.
Since this thing cycles difficult to know why the walking has been out lately or when it will return.
