After the terrible spring and summer I had with the two broken arms followed by a gazillion physical therapy visits, my family and I decided it would be beneficial to go on vacation prior to school starting. I still have pain in my rt arm, but the left healed well and have no limitations in it.

We came up with this crzy idea to go to Yellowstone in a motorhome. The motorhome would allow the lymies to move around as needed or lie down while traveling because it is such a long drive.

We had a wonderful time, and except for me being short of breath in the mountains, I really did well. It was so enjoyable to get out of the house and see nature again. Everyone knew I would be a freak about watching out for ticks, but despite the daily frequent tick checks, spraying, showering, and more checking, the family tolerated it pretty well. They followed the rules (generally speaking) and we had such a wonderful time. I remember looking over a rock to a waterfall thinking about how much I had been missing out on since having lyme, and that I was so glad it was over, and I could go on living again finally.

I brought home many memories that will never be forgotten. I took lots of pictures, bought a couple souveneirs, and brought this too......

A FREAKING BULLSEYE RASH!!!!!!!

I cannot believe this, really. I mean, do I need this??? As if what I have been through wasn't enough, then both kids get it....and others... now this???

When I found it Monday I cried. It can't be. nope. Tuesday I looked.... slightly bigger, redder. nope can't be. Wednesday holy cow I have a damn bullseye. OMG!!! Bawled bawled. swore. bawled some more. bawling right now.

I would just like to ask God.... What the hell did I do to deserve this?? What???? I thanked you in the mountains for all you have given me, for the chance to see Earth's beauty, for the tiny prairie flowers, the majestic Tetons, the elk, bison, and everyone in my life. So this is the gift I get??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are you trying so hard to end my life????

Nurse, I am so sorry..But keep up the fight, do not give in to the little btards..

My daughter started with symptoms in 5th grade but we never saw a bulls eye or noticed any off season flu symptoms, etc..She started with anxiety, etc.

She had been peppered with deer ticks on many occasions however.Negative tests, the joke that they are, etc.

Many years of psychiatrists and psych meds and even suicide attempts...

Then 4 years ago, she had the first bulls eye that we ever knew of..I was so po'ed. By then she had been careful and on abx, including picc lines..She was still symptomatic but I know about how you feel. Those words would get me thrown off of the board.

But I can honestly say, the bite never seemed to make her any worse. And the critter that bit her at the exact spot of the rash was a mosquito. So cross your fingers and continue your prayers.

Thanks for posting your story. It definitely is an eye-opener and can serve as a warning for all of us.

You are case in point that there just aren't enough precautions in the world we can take to avoid diseased ticks.

Nature is gorgeous and all but it's not worth the risk. I'll just continue to watch Sunrise Earth for my nature fix.

Your story sounds like mine. I got rid of lyme over 4 years ago now. But, late last August, I got a bulls eye rash from pulling a few weeds in my yard! the one time I didn't check myself, etc.

I was so angry! Why should I get lyme twice before everyone else gets it once!

But, happily, I called my old lyme doc and got in with him in 2 days. He put me on 2 different meds to cover lyme and all the cos and in 30 days I was finished! No big deal!!!!

Honey, take care of this right away and it will be no big deal. Right away!!!!

Write me if you want to know my treatment.

I agree that this is a real shame.

I also agree that if you get proper treatment by your LLMD right away, you should be ok.

Take care.

So sorry this happened to you. You know the drill, how to get proper treatment -- please start on it right away.

Since you did tick checks, could it be your old infection re-emerging -- that is, no new exposure? I have heard that is possible, to have a bulls-eye rash when one has latent (old) lyme, not from a new tick bite.

Take good care.

I would like to echo what Vermont wrote... a bullseye can reemerge w/out a new infection. It happened to me several times. Hoping that is the case for you too. Miss ya, M

Yes, the rash could be just the secondary rash of chronic lyme, and not a new infection. I've had at least two while treating, one in the dead of winter.

--------------------
Sick since at least age 6, now 67. Decades of misdiagnosis. Numerous arthritic, neuro, psych, vision, cardiac symptoms. Been treating for 7 years, incl 8 mos on IV. Bart was missed so now treating that.

Yes, I had my bulls-eye rash come back in the very same spot as when I was first infected right after I began serious abx treatment. It can happen.
