Hi everyone. I went to Japan in June of 2010 last year and went to a city called Nara. They have wild tame deer roaming around the city and vendors sell crackers to feed to the deer. I did this since I saw lots of others and didnt thin twice. A few days later had a bit mark on my thigh and dismissed it. Well you know the story, took a long time to get diagnoses after getting home and everyone telling me it wasnt lyme.

anyways, the city hospital denied any form of lyme, and the tourism department even made a post on lonely planet that there was no lyme, but i found a cdc article that they found ehrlichia there in the ticks. Everyone is denying it and i have met several others who got sick after going there. I know Japan is in a crisis now, but this is being swept under the rug. Anyone know anything i can do?

Deshi, when you say - Anyone know anything i can do?

What do you mean by that statement?

As far as Lyme being in Japan, you can't do anything.

As far as I'm concerned, Lyme is everywhere. More in some areas less in others!!!

Well, the whole denial of the affair. I am sick, I know around 3 others who are as well. Im sure there are thousands who are sick and dont know why. They had been asked to put up a sign but refused because it would hurt tourism (obviously) but legal? I dont, just really sucks how some people get screwed for no reason.

Pretty common, Deshi, the area's concern about tourism, real estate values - this happens all over the world.

I guess if you know anyone there, you can alert them. Probably Japan is so overwhelmed right now, I don't think they're going to be able to hear a Lyme message currently.
