I have a slate rock wall around our inground pool which was installed by previous owners.
I see chimpmonks running in and out of the opening's and I'm sure mice are there as well.
When I take cover off the pool....A few mice and an occasional chimpmonk are floating...YAY! this was there fate!
Is there any product or advice on addressing rock walls to discourage rodents from living in them. I have Tick tubes all over propoerty and place them around the wall, hoping they will use the treated cotton.
suggestions??

I have a long, ancient stone wall on my property that has been crawling with chipmunks ever since I moved here 23 years ago. At first I liked the little fellers, gotta admit they are the cutest rodent.
I unknowingly increased the population exponentially by feeding the birds during the winter. All those sunflower seeds on the ground were feeding the rodents.
Then I was diagnosed with Lyme, after being misdiagnosed for decades. I know now that RODENTS are a bigger factor in the spread of Lyme than even deer, b/c rodents carry the nymph which is the most likely source of most human infections.
I was also getting damage to my garden from the chipmunks, as well as voles, moles, and field mice.
If you have ever had a mouse in your house, I can guarantee you that you have TICKS in your house as well.
I have not fed the birds during winter the last two years. I will feed goldfinches in the summer, since I don't believe thistle seed is attractive to rodents.
For the past several years I have waged war against all rodents in my 0.42 acre property. I have trapped HUNDREDS over this time period. At first used hav-a-hart traps.
Now I use the Ketch-All multiple-catch rodent trap. This trap is the BEST. Wind it up and it will catch up to five or six rodents. It catches them alive (sort of). You can dispatch them as you please. Best to spread some peanut-butter in the inside compartment (not the holding area). Even better is Trappers' Choice Pecan Surprise - rodents cannot resist this stuff!!!! The traps are reasonably priced on amazon and elsewhere.

I believe my illness started with a lake home we bought in 98, that was overrun by field mice in the winter.
Gosh am I happy the home is not ours anymore. Somebody else is working their tails off to keep mice out in the winter.
10 yrs ago we had a pool in our yard. My husband was always trying to save a chipmunk paddling to get out. Sometimes we were too late.
I try not to see evil in all animals like chipmunks, birds, rabbits etc. Deer and mice I can't get over, their presense to me means TICKS.
We're trying to catch one squirrel and several chipmunks. My dear elderly neighbor is my trapper.

Rodents (rats, mice, etc.) hate the smell and will stay away from an essential oil blend containing the following:
"Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis)"
This blend called "Purification" and is made by Young Living.
There are many experiences from my own family as well as friends who have used this oil blend to repel and keep rodents out of houses, atticks, and garages. Sprinkle a drop every 3 feet in the area where you want to repel the rodents, or at the opening of where you want to keep them out of, and the rodents will try very hard to get as far from the smell as they can.
