If so does it effectiveness depend on when you eat?

I am trying to time pepcid and feeding my dog while giving him doxy. Vet said to give it to him 1/2 hour before doxy. I am confused though as to when to feed him.

Do I feed him before the pepcid or after? Does it work better on am empty stomach and I then I would wait to feed him right before the doxy (1/2 hour later)?

Or can I feed him sometime before and then give it to him?

If it were ME .. I would always be sure to take doxy with food, so I would take the Pepcid and then 1/2 hr later the food and the doxy.

If still in doubt, call the vet.

That is what we have been doing. Pepcid, wait 1/2 hour, then food and doxy.

So far no vomiting. Day 3, which is today, is the critical day. We have never been able to get by this day without him heaving all the time.

This dog will vomit over anything. I have never seen anything like it. I think he would die in the wild.

Thanks!

For vomit or bad diarhea in dogs i have found one of my theralac probiotics straightens it right out

My regular doc couldnt help my schnauzer with explosive bloody diarhea for days...then a different vet said use probiotics and he was better in an hour or so

Good luck

Sigh..

He didn't even make it to his 7th dose (morning of 3rd day) of doxy before he vomited. At least we didn't waste a pill.

We have some amox so we may try that for a few days.

Or just give him a probiotic for a while. It is hard to watch his lyme symptoms take over when we can't treat him.
