What do these people know about how MJF will be when he's 60?

Many people have reached out to him to think outside the box & he hasn't listened. I still think it could be managed but if he would have nipped it in the bud in the 90s, he'd be in much better shape now.
His logic was "well, everyone on the set got bit. How come it didn't happen to them?" Sad....
Same thing happened to Ben Petrick. I remember a 60 minutes special on the MLB player who got lyme & was on IV...Then I remember another special on ESPN a couple months later where he was shaking & couldn't stand. But he believed his dr's when they said no more antibiotics...He's screwed now. As soon as he was off antibiotics, this disease devastated his brain. Yet he doesn't make the common sense connection.....I just don't get it.

Jordana, I didn't know that. I question his intelligence then....This medical system is shoving misinformation down people's throats.
If antibacterial/viral, neurological drugs help the Parkinson's, Alzheimers, MS, ALS, symptoms then bacteria/virus may be the issue. Is that not as obvious as grass is green or the sky is blue?
Why is it a mystery still? lol. 5 yrs in & I've completely lost faith in humans to think for themselves.
Empirical, & scientific data is sitting right in front of someone's face & they still take the word of someone else cause they went to school for a few yrs longer.
MJF must have accepted his fate. Or maybe he didn't have access to the crowdsourcing of medical information that we do now.
The regular person has access to medical information that is decades beyond what any Dr learned in even the best medical school.
I guess since we can't stand on a podium in front of the country to let them know this, at least we can help ourselves & family....if they choose to listen.

I wonder if some people are already too cognitively impaired to think for themselves if Lyme and cos have advanced too much for them?

Or just really scared. If you have a doctor willing to take care of you who has decided you have Parkinson's...I can see taking that. This way is SO much harder.
I read a study about the action of the brain immune system in Lyme and it seems like most of what happens is not a direct hit from Lyme on the brain. The brain starts making some really weird proteins (not just alpha-synuclein) in response to the threat -- in other words the brain is actually going autoimmune.
Stop the threat -- the autoimmunity stops, that's what I really think -- or at least it could work even if there's A LOT of damage. I really wonder how these guys would do if they just tried again.

Six people bit on the same set. Let's face it docs didn't know how to diagnose lyme back then (most still don't).
Too many people believe evidence based medicine finds everything. We all know it doesn't especially for lyme and company. Then there's the fear factor.

Something that worries me is that those at higher risk of contracting Parkinson’s Disease are teachers (that’s me) and medical workers. Other high risk occupations include farm workers, loggers and miners."
Hmmm....infectious causes anyone?

The other occupations include heavy exposure to chemicals. That is one thing my dad had exposure to. That plus Lyme disease.

That's interesting about brain autoimmunity. Brain & gut r same thing in a lot of ways.
I bet some of the schools could be worse than mines or pesticide ridden farms. Teachers spending so much time in old, toxic buildings. In general, we don't put a high priority on the location in which people learn in schools or colleges. It's more focused on the material.
I think toxic locations plus the inability to detox is responsible for so much of this mess.
As far as MJF, maybe some people choose the path of constant support from everyone instead of fighting for his life. It has to be easier mentally & financially just to take a symptomatic, mainstream diagnosis than trying to get to the root of the problem.
Hundreds of Facebook posts of support would be cool for a minute but I'd rather have a shot at health & be the old me.

Higher risk due to exposure from toxins and lyme/co infections. IMO parkinsons is lyme and company, heavy metal exposure and inability to detox toxins/metals and more (whatever was in the tick).
Consider MJF's co workers that got parkinsons too. Those people probably were not from the same area nor had the same genetic make up. Yet conventional medicine glosses over it as coincidence or a cluster.
They could have been exposed to toxins and/or mold in one building or area though. Even so, lyme is all over canada but is ignored and very little was known about it back then.
Many of these symptoms below are common for lyme patients. Ignoring lyme may bring on more of the symptoms (masked face, etc).

There were four people (including Michael J. Fox) who worked on the Canadian set of "Leo and Me" in the late 1970s and later were diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
They were not all bitten by ticks! (They may have been, but we do not know - there is no article mentioning that there were six people with tick bites on that set).
Michael J. Fox did, however, have Lyme. And, yes, I agree that that is what likely triggered his Parkinson's.
Jordana, I also hate articles like that. He has been having good and bad days for a very long time. When the media catch him on a bad day, there is always an article that pronounces him wheelchair-bound, always an article saying that he's "losing his battle".
Some newspapers are like vultures, circling, waiting for something "new" and horrible to report about him.
He is brave, he is lovely, he is smart, and he may or may not still have Lyme. But we don't actually know.
