Did a lot of walking yesterday at Japanfest. Also drove a total of 4 1\2 hours. Counting that as exercise gang. Also went up about 15 steps.

Hopefully can squeeze in some more exercise today!

AK--Thanks for starting the thread. Hope you enjoyed the Japanfest.

I woke up a lot last night so slept in this morning. I am sure my church is wondering where I have been lately.

I have crickets chirping in my basement at night but I can never find them. They are noisy!

I walked 35 minutes with my trekking poles at the local community college. Sunny and 80 here today, so perfect weather. I needed a change of route so drove there.

Now am doing laundry. Will try to do a little yard work later.

Hey, gang!

I took a new supplement today called Magnesium Threonate. Supposed to be very good brain food and blah blah blah.

It made my stomach blow up and burn like fire. Never again!

Hoping to feel better by tomorrow.

Monday-Did my triceps and chin exercises this morning. Going to my allergist with Mom so that's a drive of an hour one way. Have had a headache since Friday and I'm hoping this magnet that I've put on will help. Outside of that just sitting around.

Hiker-I enjoyed myself at Japanfest this year. They had a Kabuki performance and a Taiko Drum performance that literally blew my socks off! Me, Mom and her BFF saw those and then I walked around while they worked their booth. Hope you have a great work week!

TuTu-I tried Magnesium Threonate also and it made me feel very sick in the head! More than usual! I just found the bottle, it's MagMind from Jarrow. Made me feel like I was super drugged up. I took it once.

Kayak-I saw some of your pics on FB and I'm jealous! What I wouldn't give to see that shoreline. I kinda took a mini vacay while looking at them. I enjoyed them so much! Little Etta is so cute!

OK, gotta run!

I'm doing a little better today... still mad at myself for trying that %$#$. Made me feel terrible and I'm cold .. been cold since yesterday. My stomach is a little better, but I'm afraid to eat very much. So far, it's crackers and rice cakes.

AK .. My husband used to play for a very famous violinist from Japan. Their Japanese segment was awesome. They had the largest Taiko drum being used on a regular basis in a show.

Hubby played Japanese flute to open that segment and it was really nice.

I would love to see a Japanfest!

LP--So glad to hear about your brother.

Tutu--It always makes me mad when I spend $$ on a supplement and it has side effects or doesn't work.

For the first time this school year I actually walked after work. Only 20 minutes, but it felt good. Hope I can do that more often.

Exactly, hiker. GRRR

Manna .. I'm glad it's OK for your husband! It was like acid for me.

Got my test results back today from my allergist. Definitely have Mast Cell Activation Disease. My 24 hour N Methyl histamine was 1318. Normal is 30-200 mcg. Added another antihistamine so am taking Pecid 20 mg 2 x a day. Levocetrizine 5 mg at night with a Pepcid. Allegra 180 mg in the morning with a Pepcid. Also on my own added suggested herbal Bacopa Monneri that I take 2 a day. My doc said I should start to improve.

Thanks TuTu for all the links and info. Been so very valuable to me. Hopefully can get back on my feet and back to work.

Think my Mom and Dad (deceased) saw that same violinist in ** MO. One heck of a show!

Kayak-Glad to hear you and your brother are making headway. Not the same brother who had surgery right?

Manna-TuTu and I have a mast cell condition and I bet that's why we can't tolerate the threonate.

Hiker-Glad you could squeeze in a walk today. Josh and I are heading out tomorrow for a movie. I know it's going to be scary. Have to remember my Depends! Ha!

See you all tomorrow!

Walked 20 minutes after work again today to relieve stress.

New contract for teachers freezes pay for 2 years. I bet the teachers vote it in which is ridiculous. Also in the contract is if you do not take any sick days during the year you either get $100 or another sick day added to next year. Totally ridiculous. I know very few teachers who don't miss a day either for themselves, their children, or elderly parents. [cussing]

After I rested I felt really hot and realized I am running a fever. Not sure if it is an infection or hot flashes. Ugh to either one. I feel pretty good, though.

Sorry to hear that you have MCAS, AK... but at least now you can get better. Diet is huge for me. If you don't improve, then consider the cromolyn sodium. It has helped me in so many ways.

AK .. find out which year they were there. He played for him for 7 yrs.

hiker .. Who decides on the contracts? The union? I hope you feel better VERY SOON!!

I've been in bed most of the day. I managed to go to PT, then came home and rested, hoping to go to exercise. My stomach is worse today than yesterday.

I have a ticket for a great group tonight so I am planning to go. It's a very famous group and it's been 25 yrs since I've seen them. I just ate something and am praying I survive it.

Tuesday-No exercise but finally have relief from that headache. Mom added 2 more magnets on the back of my neck and I feel much better today.

Josh and I went to see The Blair Witch. As usual scared me to death but otherwise our typical take out Del Taco and 2 episodes of Criminal Minds helped settle me down.

Hiker-Glad you got that walk in. Your new contract blows! Who doesn't need time off? Josh mentioned something similar to me. He was just telling one of his coworkers that he has 20 more years until he can retire but a 30 year mortgage. Hope he will try and pay it off in 20.

TuTu-Doc hasn't mentioned sodium cromolyn. I don't go back for six months unless I have a flare up. I'm trying the Bacopa Monneri with fingers crossed.

My Mom doesn't remember when they first saw that show but had to be before 2005 and the last time her and my uncle from Okinawa went in 2006. They loved it!

Kayak-Busy as usual I see. You're right about having some answers but still searching for answers for lower leg swelling and maybe hypercoagulation issues. Going to my GP Thursday to see if she can order tests or something. Really trying to get my health back so stepping up my game plan.

Ak .. Then she saw my husband perform! He left in 2004 after 7 yrs.

I made it to the show tonight. Feeling better, but ugh so rough today.

AK.. The cromolyn is a mast cell stabilizer. Where did you get the bacopa?

Whew. Ruff nite. Then woke up thinking i was back in the 50s with the news.i remember being under 10 with 5 siblings younger than me tumbling around the house and my mom medmerized by the tv...she stood there st as ring at tv with tears running diwn her face...all her babies around her ... Blocked out for the moment...as she watched in disbelief the troubles...selma...MLK...im not sure exactly what was going on...she nev we taljed to me about it that i can remember but that moment is when i learned about racism. This morning it almost seemed like we were back in that time

Moving on frim that...im trying to get a gandle on out of control pain. Esp knee ...not good news since we made tge decision to postpone knee surg and do shoulder first

Also severe back that i havent had in a ling time but i jnow why. Helper yesterday wss very talkative and she can wirk and talk at the same timr but i cabt so i ended up sitting way too much. I can sit in wc a long time if im zooming around and usung legs and arms to do stuff but sitting still like thst i turn into the tin man. Then i forgot to take meds right. Very very psinful nite. No sleep til 4-10 am

Just starting to move now. Have to take more pain meds than normal

Trying to sit in lift chair i will need for afrer shoulder surg. Its nit workibg. Ut took months fir it to off gas enough to be able to have it in same room as mmm e but sit 4th ibv in it my tongue is tunglibg and skin burnibg wgere it toucges leatger

I hace most of it covered with thick quilt abd still reacting. Not goid news. This chair cost 800. I cant return it.

I hope i can force off gassing so i csn at lesst use it after surgery

It doesn't bother other ppl. And doesnt bother me as ling as im not sleeping in it

I think its the fire retardant they are required to put on it

I hope the meds kick in. Im excited about dealing with little piles that are all over house.. My homewirk...because they are not overwgelming

Hiker...i sure hope things fet better for you. I w as struggling wgen i had 2 years left and when i got knocked out by studebt and had to take early retirement i thought it was the end if the wirld. I still had 2 kids in college and lots of debt. Somehow i survive d. I hope the work sutuation imptives and your body gets stronger so yiu can follow your plan...but sometimes it seems we get pushed into a dufferent plan and its ok

AK--My friend uses support hose for her lower leg swelling. The valves in her veins aren't working and it makes her skin darker and mottled. Support hose really helps.

LP--Sounds like you are making progress a little bit at a time.

Went for a walk again after school. Harder today because I am more tired but using trekking poles got me through 22 minutes.

Contract vote next week. Tutu--our union negotiates with the board, but our union is pretty weak these past 10 years.

We used to be very strong and not hesitate to vote down a contract, but now it seems like the union makes the teachers fearful that if the contract does not pass the next one will be much worse. I simply say keep voting "no" until we get a good one.

Wednesday-Outside of my back hurting am feeling better. Surely can't be my new meds that quickly! Just started them yesterday.

Did my chin and triceps exercises. Made brunch and cleaned kitchen. Did a load of laundry and me and Mom did some grocery shopping. Dropped Mom at home and continued with more errands ending up at Josh's until ten.

TuTu-I bet they did see your hubby. My father is from Missouri and all his family still live there. I used to live in Clinton.

The Bacopa I buy from a health food store and I just bought Source Naturals Activated Quercetin to work in conjunction with it. Hoping this form of quercetin will inhibit histamine release.

Kayak-I'm OK with my doctors. They listen and know that I'm proactive in regards to my health. I always stress to them is there anything I can do to help myself recover. I basically do everything they tell me unless I have a negative reaction to meds or treatment. Then I'm non-compliant!

Hiker-I might need those hose too! I have had a swollen area underneath and to the side of one of my knees for about 7-8 months now. My GP put me on diuretics that did nothing. Lately it's been hurting so I'm going tomorrow to talk with her about that and getting checked for hypercoagulation if she can do that.

Glad to hear you got a walk in today!

See you all tomorrow!

My exercise today was all pen to paper grading essays. Creative stories but terrible grammar and punctuation.

Until tomorrow. [Smile]

Friday-Having an ultrasound today of that swelling near my knee. No tests for hyper coagulation though. Darn!

So far no exercise, hope that changes later.

Hiker-My back is still hurting but my overall health is a little better, I'm on new meds for the MCAS so am hoping they're working.

See you all later!

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope they find out what's wrong with the knee.

hiker .. grading essays .. ugh

Good luck on all the organizing, kayak .. your helper sounds awesome!

I went to a funeral today for a lady who was over 100 yrs old. Amazing that she touched so many lives that there were over a hundred people there. Probably more than that. ( usually the elderly have few attendees because they've all died! She only had about 5 members of her family there... that's all that's left, basically)

She was the sister in law of one of our long time church members. I went to support her. I had met this lady in the past and she was really sweet.

They said she taught Sunday School for 50 yrs! What a shining example of faith and love this person was!

The pastor pointed out that she had lived more than 36,000 days!

Wow! 100 years old. Think of all the changes this woman saw in our society during her life time.

On my feet all day at work as the kids are using microscopes. Will be that way next week as well.

Went grocery shopping after work and plan to relax tonight.

Yes, he talked about that. He said she was 27 when duct tape was invented. That got a good laugh! He said, "Can you imagine living without duct tape!?"

My dad would have been 100 this year. [Frown]

He died in 1993.

Saturday-Just a cooking and cleaning kitchen day. Made a pear crisp and salad to go with store bought lasagne and garlic bread.

Josh and his dog Ada came for a visit so we all had a nice relaxing day.

TuTu-100 years old is something! I think like Hiker, can you imagine all the things she's seen? Wonder what she thought about society as a whole. I'm sure she will be greatly missed.

Hiker-Glad to hear about you getting in a walk. I've been dragging butt myself. I feel so tired lately and think it might be the antihistamines. Sure feel a lot calmer though so that's a plus.

Kayak-I'm envious of your cooler weather. It's still in the 90's down here. I can't wait for it to cool down.

See you all tomorrow!
