Hi Everyone,

I'm still not doing well but wanted to just quickly write an update to let everyone know what's going on with me.

I'm still not able to eat much at all (pretty much limited to pudding, saltines, occasionally soup, etc). I have an appointment with a GI specialist on Thursday (amazing that I managed to get in so soon but they really worked to get me in asap).

My abdominal cat scan was normal. I'm now on Nexium (my LLMD thought it might be gastritis or something). I went to a walk-in clinic on Friday (my mom dragged me there) and they gave me a prescription for Phenergan for the nausea which is helping make me more comfortable but not eat more. I'm still off all meds and I can't tell how my Lyme stuff is doing at this point since everything else is on the front burner right now.

well, that's it. I'll update everyone about the GI appt after I have it.

Peace and healing,
Annie

Annie,

I am experiencing the same thing right now. Everything sets me on fire and cannot eat without huge discomfort-GI pain and burning and off all meds.

May it all resolve for you soon.

peace and healing back at cha,

Maggie

Annie, can you tolerate any aloe vera juice,
and add plain water to it? That sometimes
helps me with nausea.

I think concentrating on the GI symptoms is
the most pressing issue at hand, and learning
what is causing them. Lyme may have to be
on the back burner until this settles itself
down.

Hi there. I may have said this to you before, so please forgive me if I repeat myself myself (little joke).

My husband had miserable GI problems after abx for several years--massive bloating, peristalsis would quit for several days, his intestines would get hard as a rock, his stomach was sore to the touch, he'd throw up several times a day, an have either diahrrea or constipation. He was always nauseous and in pain.

We found a wonderful non-LL GI guy who did a complete endoscopy and colonoscopy and found he was ulcerated from stem to stern, had a hiatal hernia, had polyps in his colon, and decided he had a massive overgrowth of C. difficile and H. pylori.

Treated him for the bugs, which made a huge difference; put him on Nexium; had him go through a de-yeasting treatment; and removed the polyps.

At his last check up 3 years later, most of the ulceration has completely healed, no polyps, and my husbands stomach rarely bothers him at all (until he started on Mepron, and had the diarrhea again. But even that's not horrible, and quits whenever he takes a mepron break).

So -- just wanted you to know there's a happy ending. The C. difficile info is not well known -- our GI guy did much of the pioneering research on it. Let me know if you need your doc to talk to him, my husband was quite the case study. Good luck, hope you get more comfortable soon.

Just editing to say that the GI problems started with LD, not with the abx -- the abx and immune system imbalances just exacerbated some of the problems and lead to the difficile and h pylori overgrowth.

yes, its true that c- difficile is often a direct response to antibiotic overuse. I agree with the above posters response about de -yeasting.

I would think that frequent dosing of pro- biotics; acidophalis, live good bacteria in plain yogurt.

Hope you will get better soon!!

Annie,
That's was 1 of 2 of my main problems w/digestion-a yeast overgrowth. I eat yogurt without added sugar(which conteracts the friendly bacteria in yogurt). 'Stoneyfield Farms' or 'Brown Cow' is what I eat. Stoneyfield also has organic yogurts.
I also keep a bottle of echinacea extract w/me and it works wonders. Echinacea is highly antifungal.
What has been the biggest blessing when I couldn't digest fats or protein is BEET JUICE! Biotta carries beet juice in bottles. It doesn't taste like the aweful beets in cans. It can also be mixed w/apple or other juice. Beet stimulate the liver and are also a tonic to it. I take about 4oz twice a day when needed for 1 or 2 days if bad, then 4oz/day when needed. At first if you drink enough you will see red when in the bathroom but it will go back to normal. Sorry for the description but instead of having normal brown movements it would be yellow at times when the liver was full of toxins. The beet juice reversed that. I hope this helps someone and I think I'll do a 'Beet Juice Post'.
