Anyone watch the Simpsons? I rarely watch but my husband had it on for about five minutes and I couldn't believe the nasty thing they had in there about lyme. The teacher was in front of the class and said something about her lyme disease and that she doesn't have it but the doctor told her it was PSYCHOSOMATIC. She wrote the word on the board for the class. She then said something like "Sometimes when something is in all the magazines people think they are sick.........." I think it was on Friday.

I can't quite remember word for word but I was shocked. Is David Letterman writing the SImpson cartoons now? I meant to ask if anyone else had seen it but I've been busy. Needless to say I turned the channel and haven't watched that particular channel at all since Friday.

i didn't see teh show,but...

for most viewers of this show, the statement of lyme being "psychsomatic" is probably a counter-intuitive lesson that lyme is a very serious infection; at least i hope this is teh effect it has.
if this isn't the effect, then we're hopeless as a species, and the insects will inherit the earth, sooner than not. [lol]

That's a really old rerun, maybe 10 years old.

they have used the clip in the Under Our Skin movie. They show clips of really awful TV comments about lyme. (to make a point about how it is mistreated in the media) Seinfeld had more than one really mean jab, if I remember correctly. Really upsetting.
