Go to www.regulations.gov - click on Submit Comments, the Document type is Notice, type in the docket number, which is FDA-2011-D-0376-0079.

Then you get 20 minutes to type your comments. See lululymemom's talking points in her thread about Tomorrow is Last Day for Supplements Debate.

If you don't know what's going on, the FDA is trying to restrict our supplements through new regulations that say any new dietary ingredient and product made with it since 1994 needs to be tested.

Right - that'll cost thousands/millions of dollars, with the result that manufacturers and small businesses will go out of business and we will no longer have our supplements. That's pretty serious, folks -

The 1994 DSHEA - Dietary Supplement Health and Safety Act protects supplement usage. Its intent for new dietary ingredients is for them to go through a simple notification process, not be tested to see what their lethal dosage is!

So please, do your homework today - all comments need to be in by 12 midnight EDT.

After this deadline, I still think it's a good idea to communicate with our Congressional reps and the president about doing everything they can to protect supplements and stop the FDA from issuing such regulations. Lululymemom has that url listed in her post, and I already went ahead and did all that too.

Let's keep this thread at the top till the end of the day!

Almost all of us are using supplements of one type or another. Imagine if probiotics were only available by perscription. Many of us are already deep in debt treating this illness, this could push many over the edge!

Just take 5 minutes out of your day and visit Robin's link. We cannot let this one slip under the radar!

I'm really sorry I learned about the deadline at the last minute! We shoulda been on this the whole time for public comment period.

What I am doing today - I'm contacting healthfood supplement places now by phone to let them know to get their comments in today.

If any of you have time to do similar, I've given the instructions here about how to do so and what the talking points are. It's a numbers game right now - I'm sure there's a ground swell of emailing going on today -

so don't be afraid to add yourself to the number of people who are commenting to them, also to call around town to anyone you can see being affected by this in a business way.

If any of you know people to contact right now about this info, please do so.

After this, I think we will be communicating with our reps and the Pres., but today, this! Go forth, health supplement protectors!!

I called around town today and found a range of awareness, from businesses that have been working on the issue, to those who didn't know what I was talking about!
