did i do it right? huh? huh?

i've never done it before

here is where we share all about our exercise...like showering, brushing teeth, grocery shopping...stuff like that.

and then the real athletes come on and talk about lifting weights, and machines, and walking the dog...and lifing wheelchairs too!!!

Thanks Kayak for doing a perfect job for starting this week's thread.

Monday-No exercise slept in. Stomach issues over the weekend from something I ate at Oktoberfest.

Had a great time though Friday night drinking craft beers sampling gourmet appetizers and listening to the music. Made a new friend that's also an avid hiker.

Saturday even though not feeling well and maybe slightly hung over took Rocky to 'Woofstock'. Had a great time. Rocky's famous now, he got his picture in the local college paper.

Want to post pix from my facebook page but see I have to do it from Photobucket. Can't access that website from my job, it's a blocked domain.

I'd like you all to see the pix. I'll try to do it from home.

See you all later!

im taking my middle of the day rest...i am at my mountain house trying to get a few things done b4 the big snow comes.

i have been digging up perrenials to take down to my new house 2 hrs south of here near the ocean. not so cold there.

but it is really hard for me to walk here on the hills...i have had many close calls of falling...and i only stand for a few minutes at a time...still...i really dont want to fall. that is why i bought that FLAT house.

so-duing my rest the boy next door came and in 15 min did what would have taken me the rest of the day.

i'll work slow this afternoon and hope i can head for the ocean first think in the morning. it is supposed to be the only sunny day for awhile

oh-and if you missed the last post of last week..."i can shottish"...well...i could.

wow- Kayak, digging up perennials is such hard work! I have so much work to do in our yard before the snow comes.

well my week of zoomies...and having more energy and animation than I have had in years...came to a halting crash yesterday... I just had to take a nap and not get out of my pj's...everything hurt...this time the sick kind of hurt... the yoga seemed to wipe me out more than the weights. but also messing around with new scripts...so who really knows.

lone wolf, you do ok with beer? I admit to not having given up my wine. i don't seem to have yeast issues.

Good job, Kayak!! What you said made me laugh!! (about the real athletes, etc) [Big Grin]

BE CAREFUL!!!!

AKL...hope you can post the pic later!!

I went to a small Oktoberfest yesterday. It was fun. So glad I went! I met a couple from Texas (they were just traveling around our area in an RV).

We are now fast friends...lol... get a few Texans talking and they will decide they are now friends or that they are related. HAHAHAHA.

Both were teachers, so we had a lot to talk about.

We had good German food. I'm not a big fan of German food even though I am German. Just didn't grow up eating that stuff.

I cheated and had "Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake" .. OH MY WORD!! I want MORE!!

I even have a recipe (from my mom).. but I don't dare make it or I'd eat the whole thing in two days.

Here's a link: http://www.theplainsman.com/

Scroll down to Woofstock and click on the slideshow.

Best I can do for now....

Kayak-I didn't do any yardwork this year except very little grass cutting. No flowers, herbs, etc. I need to at least get me some mums for crying out loud. [Roll Eyes]

And what is the 'shottish'. A dance right? Hard?

Kudzu-Hang in there! I'm ok with beer. When I first got sick I used to flush and sweat horribly when I drank any alcohol. My Neuro was sure I had porphoria? but I didn't have it. Now I can drink. Course, I don't know if that's a good thing or not. [Big Grin]

TuTu-Oktoberfest is so fun, huh? I enjoyed my celebration minus the stomach problems. As to last week's post about my age, I think we're around the same age. I'm just immature and haven't gotten over the cheap thrill of a horror movie. Alas, if something just as inexpensive would come along..... [Smile]

And as to that sheetcake....how bout you make it and your friends here on this thread will help you eat it? [lick]

Later gang!

All the dogs and other animals there were precious. They had pony rides and a small petting zoo too.

Me and Rocky had a great time!

Able to clean up in kitchen a bit. Hoping to go back and do more.

Able to drive out to a creek about 8 or 10 miles from home.

Walked in 5 min, sat on rock to rest and ended up on my side instead.

But, it actually was more comfortable so just stayed there bit until I got my strength to get myself upright again.

Little to no fall colors in the area yet.

Lyme too. I think of you often. Last time, it was when one of my neighbors was trying to walk to her car.

One foot was OK but the other wasn't. She was leaning on someones arm to get out the door.

I offered my power chair but she said she was all right.

I'm off to see the cardiologist.. routine stuff.

I have a friend who is taking me. We may go to Wally World too. (if she's willing/able to push me in the wheelchair)

Tuesday-No exercise. If you click on the Woofstock pic it will enlarge and go to the Plainsman website.

That way you can see Rocky in all his glory! [Big Grin]

Go to run and let folks here at work know it's about to storm.

Today hubby's exercise was climbing the stairs to go rest in bed.

He says sometimes by the time he makes it up the stairs, he's not sure he can make it down the hall to bed.

He's really feeling wiped out with the latest med change. Same meds he was on previously..... so why now?

MannaMe.. ya never know WHY, trust me!!

It could be that he's in his 3-5 wk cycle of herxing. You may want to chart them on a calendar.

AKL.. I'm going to check this out once I eat supper!

Kayak, the thread is perfect; great job.

I volunteered to take care of a neighbor's greyhound today. On his evening walk, he decided he wanted to run.
So we compromised.

He trotted along, and I hobbled behind. I think we were a funny sight. Also had to walk our dog, but that walk was leisurely and punctuated with neighbor talks.

Tonight, I spent 10 minutes on the rebounder. Teddy the cockapoo thought it seemed like fun, so he got on, and I rocked him around awhile. Dogs are funny.

Then, I did 75 jumping jacks and 25 sit ups. I feel so much better when I'm moving. That's why I love this thread. It keeps me accountable.

Thanks, everyone!!

Lymetoo, what is the 3-5 week herxing cycle?

He has times when he's "starving" that lasts for several days to a week.

It happens every so often - must be a cycle of some sort. Though we haven't charted it.

All Lyme patients will herx approximately once a month. (3-5 wks) And believe it or not, he will herx around the full moon. We just had a full moon last Friday.

I don't know about the hunger thing.

Babesia cycles more quickly. I think it's every 10 days?? Not sure.

Tu, now that I'm treating Lyme and coinfections, it seems like the herxing pattern happens at least every 10 days.

Wednesday-20 minutes on the stair climber, no arm exercises, ab workout on the bench.

Still favoring upper back from lifting heavier weights last week.

MannaMe-I remember early in my treatment when a good day was going from the bed to the couch. Hope your hubs continues to improve.

TuTu-I clicked on the link then scolled down to Woofstock and clicked on the picture and didn't have a problem. Try again. I noticed yesterday I did that and I got some error message and tried again and it was ok. Hope you can see him.

Andie-I could just picture you and your dog on the rebounder. Made me smile. I can't imagine me and Rocky on one. Right there with you about this thread and accountability. Boy do I need that!

Kam-I used to do carrot/apple juice. I've got a Jack LaLane juicer that I haven't used in quite awhile. I might need to break that thing out of the closet. Wouldn't hurt to start drinking some juice again in the evenings.

See you all tomorrow!

AKL.. When I click on it I see pictures of all the dogs. That is it.

I am so grateful that my friend took me to the Dr yesterday, waited patiently, then took me to Wal Mart and pushed me in the wheelchair.

She told me she would take me shopping any time I wanted to go! Now THAT is a true friend!!! Thank you, Jesus!!

Tomorrow, another friend is taking me to the movies again. Now if I could just get some NEW FEET, I'd be all set.

This evening my hubby went out on the patio and sat in a chair. The little kittens are playing on his lap.

How's that for fresh air and exercise?

Said he's really feeling tipsy tonight. Hoping for sunshine tomorrow. Rainy weather is achey weather.

MannaMe...glad he was able to get outdoors with kittens. [Smile]

Tutu...glad you had a good friend to push you in the wheel chair...I know it makes being there so much more do able.

She must be eating her wheaties.

ALW..hoping you are able to break the Jack La Lane Juicer out. He lived in the area I use to live. He had a home in Morro Bay.

He showed up one night when I was working processing clerk at the local county sheriff's office.

He wasn't drunk acting...he acted normal...but I guess his blood alcohol level is high enough to bring him in.

One too many drinks at dinner. I was amazed at how good he looked even at his age at that time.

Kind of mad at the police officer who brought him in...felt like he could have just drove him home instead.

He wasn't your typical drunk we got in to process and hold in a jail cell until they sobbered up.

Body and attitude are feeling better this am. Less pain.

Getting up now to see what i can do. Hoping to clean up in the kitchen and take Rosie out to the forest area.

Took Rosie out at dark for her before bedtime toileting last night.

We were on the front sidewalk. I was in my power chair. I was heading east. A pack of javelina were also on the sidewalk heading west.

The big guy stood his ground. Rosie stood her ground along with the intruder alert barking.

I had a bit of trouble getting her to heal and return back to the lobby of the apartment complex until it was safe to go out again.

Also hoping to be doing well enough to visit the cable office again. I still need to find out why that $20 a month bill turned into over $100 owed??

HOping the lady who has been there for years is there instead of the new trainee.

Since small power chair is still not working thsi means I need to be doing well enough to walk into cable office and slouch in a chair with my feet up for 5 or 10 min then walk out.

That in itself takes all I have...trying to figure out a bill is going to be tricky.

as I am typing this, I think I will just write out a note and drop it off in the mail slot this am.

Able to drive Rosie out to the forest area and let her run. I just wanted to get back home...pain too much

Able to put dishes away that were drying and wash a sink full and put them out to dry.

Filled sink to soak some more dishes.

Did these things on my feet. Able to take scissors to hair around Rosie's eyes. Now, I can see her eyes.

Ah yes. I was able to kind of make my bed this am too.

It seems I go in cycles where I am not able to do that for weeks and then have a week almost where I am able to kind of spead the sheet and quilt back over the bed

Before I got sick. I would also tuck things in....but thats out now.

Thursday-20 minutes on the stair climber, ab workout on the bench. rear leg lifts.

Been taking Rocky around the back of the property this week too.

TuTu-Did you see Rocky in the tub? Going to the movies again? What're you going to see?

MannaMe-I think your hubs being outside getting fresh air and sunshine and playing with kittens sounds amazingly fun!

Kam-Enjoyed that tidbit about Jack. So, he's just one of us then. I reckon I can take him off his pedestal now.

Hope you all have a great day!

havent posted in awhile i guess...i have been to seeking tho...such a good doo-bee i am

slow start-i got back down south to the flat-landers house and went to ocean 2 days in a row. its raining really hard today and supposed to get really nice beginning tomorrow so i decided to stay put and unpack and pick-up and then i am resuming my mini-vacation...priority is getting to ocean and breathing the air

sooo-i just had breakfast at 1:40. thats what happens when i take a neurontin. i cried out from hand pain so much last night etta was alrmed and parked herself on my lap and insisted on licking the hand pain away...the 3rd time...the look in her eyes helped me decide to take the stupid neurontin. my problem must be nerves cuz it worked immediately. but as usual it was hard to get out of bed this morning...and i only took one low dose one. i really dont get how ppl take it everyday---but i guess it is possible you get used to it

anyway-KAM - you are scaring me again. i hate going outside in the dark up north-even here-now that bears are coming into houses and cars. if those javalina things are right in town it must be cuz they cant find supper in the woods. you need to be careful-animals are changing

and someone talked about going up stairs and running out of energy...yrs ago i remember getting home from work and commute and dragging in house (no stairs) and honestly-lying right down on the living room carpet...unable to walk the 10 steps or so to the bedroom...real exhaustion in those days...i cant work now...but i rarely reach that level anymore thank goodness.

so...today is unusual. i had to take up the new walmart rugs so i can go everywhere in my living space in the wheelchair. one step to recliner and toilet is all i can manage...but i dont think this will last long. i have the small wheelchair in the back of the truck now too...and it works well at the beach cuz there is a big parking lot with water on 3 sides. its where i recovered from my knee surgerys...brings back memories

i'm quite sure this is a short term backslide cuz of how awful the past 4 months have been-so i plan to feel better soon. my living space here is small but i have what i need and it is clean.

lawyer stuff has stalled and i am very low on funds. they turned off my net cuz i wanted to make payments on the back bill but they said no. so i probably will have to stretch the meds...

but i love fall-and the leaves are really pretty-and i feel like making soup-and i have a stove to do it on...so all s ok for now

soon i want to be competing with AK-my elliptical against her stair-climber

hope the movies good tutu-i used to enjoy cheap senior matinees but last week there was this scare about bedbugs in the theatre so i am holing off...

EEEK!!! Bedbugs! I forgot about those things, kayak!! I don't think they're a problem here .. YET.

AKL.. yes, saw Rocky in the tub!! [Smile]
I hate to "out" myself .. but we saw the movie "2016" .. It was really really good. I've actually seen it twice.

The last movie we saw was "Last Ounce of Courage"... a movie about standing up for our religious freedom before it's too late! It is a GREAT movie.

kam... You would think the town you live in would TRY to run the javelina out of town. I'm sure that's easier said than done, but they can get out of control when you get too many of them!

Kayak.. I would be scared to death if there were bears around. Do you know that about 10 yrs ago bears were seen inside our city limits here?? (you know where I live)

They have been seen in other towns not all that far from here too, but it's still very unusual to see them around here.

I really enjoyed our outing today but my feet are NOT HAPPY at all.

Bad attitude today but I know ti is because it is taking so much out of me to move the body and hurts.

But, able to get Rosie out to the field to toilet, put two loads of laundry in...I sorted the laundry yesterday and recalled when I wasn't able to do that so glad I was able to sort.

The two loads of laundry are clothing...not sure when I did the laundry last...just know I am out of clothing.

I also have stacks of bedding and linens to do...nto sure if I will get to them...I am out of kitchen towels too.

Times like this I dream of having my own home with my own washer and dryer again.

It is supposed to be in the high 70's today. This is good. It is finally cooling off...hopefully no more hot weather.

Thinking of taking an bayer aspirin this am to see if htat helps. Excedrin doesn't seem to be helping anymore...bayer never helpe din the past or advil or all those other products.

Tutu...hoping you have happy feet soon.

Kayak...brain is still not able to process what you wrote so I will try to read it again later.

I also was able to figure out the reason the front window blinds they just put in were not working.

I was able to give one part that broke to the mgr...later took the whole blinds down and gave them to the maintenance man who was working a couple of apartments over.

He said it would not work to glue things together. I also learned the blinds were not on warranty.

So, people can see in my front window at night. I usually am in my bedroom so that is OK.

I am going to try and wash the curtains I had in the small room today to see if they will work on the front room window.

At least half of the window will be covered if they do work. They were stained from the monsoon rains....sure hope the stain comes out.

OK. Got the two loads of laundry into the dryer and another load into the washer.

A caregiver for someone else was in the laundry room so she helped move my clohtes from one of the washers to the dryer. This was good.

also able to put in a load of towels to wash.

REsting for an hour and then I will get clothes out of dryer...most likely will need to veg for the day after that

Friday! Friday! Friday! Yippee!!!

20 minutes on the stair climber, leg lifts, ab workout and took Rocky around the back of the property.

I'm throwing down the gauntlet gang!

I took some of my Alaska hiking pictures to work today and one of my co-worker's mentioned that I wouldn't be able to do any hiking next summer because of my physical condition. [cussing]

Well, we will just have to see about that!

Kayak-Know what you mean about Neurontin. I can't take the stuff either. Makes me dead from the neck up. [Smile] Did you say you were making some soup? Our competition can be who can do the most reps with their spoon! [Razz]

TuTu-Thanks for the heads up about the movies. I'm always looking for something good to watch. My favs are the really old ones, 30's thru 60's, but I can't find anyone to watch them with. [Frown]

Kam-I've gotta do laundry too. I dread it! Seems to take so long. [Frown]

See you all later!

[hi]

I was in class all day taking the proofreading certification class. My eyes feel heavy now from all that squinty concentration.

I had to leave class twice because of nausea. I'd tried eating only protein and natural carbs (in veggies, etc). My stomach couldn't handle it.

Anyway, the pup brought me his ball as soon as I came home, so it looks like there's a game of fetch on the near horizon.

Also, I will try to get on the rebounder for a few minutes, anyway.

Sounds like you've all had a pretty productive Friday.

AK... HOPE you can go hiking in Alaska!!!

I did manage to do the last of the laundry. I did a few loads yesterday and the rest today.

Hubby took me out to eat and then he took me to the grocery store. He's getting good at the wheelchair shopping thing. [Smile]

Andie.. I'm sorry to hear about the nausea... hope it lets up soon!!!

Tu, good news about shopping. And congrats on the laundry. That's on my schedule for tomorrow.

AK, I'm also cheering for you to get to Alaska. I just know you'll make that work.

Thankfully, I was able to have dinner--something bland. Then, as I expected, Teddy and I played fetch.

Afterwards, I got on the rebounder, and he jumped right up with me. I started lightly jumping, an dhe was just bouncing around. Funny.

Hoping to read what you alll have been up to when that part of the brain is working.

Able to take Rosie out this am to toilet in the power chair...even the cracks in the sidewalk were too much this am plus brain is still out to lunch.

I did put away some dishes I washed yesterday and filled the sink full of hot,s udsy water. Hoping to rest here a bit then get up and wash them.

Also able to kind of make bed.

And find 4 quartes so I can wash those curtains...hope they are machine washable.

Cold out this am. But, it will warm up fast.

STill in my PJ's and robe.

Oops. Forgot to plug in power chair to recharge so when I get back up hope I remember to do that.

Hoping to be able to put away laundry that I did yesterday and get gas in the car...but pretty weak this am and over the top with fatigue.

I think the getting gas in the car will work as the car moves my body.

It seems there was something else I was going to mention but can't recall now.

The last few days the headlines in the paper in the paper stand in the lobby have read: Big 5 Sporting Good coming. Petmart Coming. Something Lots coming.

I dislike seeing the smll businesses put out of business but they don't seem to make a go of it here.

WE have lots of large building spaces for rent in the shopping areas.

Ah yes. I remember now what it was I was going to say. For awhile now, I have been able to hold a glass in each hand while putting my disehs away.

Something that I had not been able to do for years due to that part of the brain not working.

Well, this morning my brain really struggled to be able to hold a glass in each hand to put the dishes away.

Guessing it is just a need to lay low and then I will be able to get back to brain and limibs working better again.

Hey, kam... It's probably "Big Lots" that is coming. You'll like that one. Kinda like a dollar store.

It IS sad to see the small businesses pushed out. I remember what it was like in our town (in TX) that was about 50,000 people when WALMART came to town. BAM! This was back in the 80's when WM was just starting to really roll.

I'm off to lie down. Hope I can nap a bit.

Tutu...When I first moved here my hands hurt during the winter due to the cold.

I tried different mittens, gloves but that wasn't working.

A friend sent me some hand warmers....that didn't work for me as it took a while before the hand warmers heated up and it did not seem cost effective for 20 min outdoors.

But, I am wondering if it would work for you all night in socks on your feet??

A LN friend got me a pair of sheepskin mittens that keep me warm now...no more pain

I ate little yesterday. really weak this am. Able to take Rosie otu to toilet via the reclining power chair and finally plug it in to charge this am.

CAt wants me to get up and let her back outside again. I will do it but need to get back in bed and rest some more afterwards.

Put a few of the dishes away in the kitchen thsi am. Hoping to wash some more this am.

OK...in a fog brain wise this am and weak. But, able to put the curtains from the two small windows in the washer...I couldn't find my quarters to dry them....

So hung them up in the large front room window on the curtain rods to dry.

Water stain from monsoons did not come out but there is still hope.

The curtain rod bracket needs to come down some but it is OK for now.

Hoping to hang the darker curtains on the two small windows in the small room sometime when able.

Drove on back road to rodeo grounds this am and let Rosie out. Some big bulls there ...Brahma...sun was in my eyes so not able to take pics...brain and body was not doing well enough to take pics either.

calves and sheep in a pen too.

They also were taking down the temporary paddocks.

DRove across the street and cruised around the Casino parkign area. I saw where they had shot off the fireworks last night.

Lots of left overs to be cleaned up in the parking lot

Saw a few very large motor homes pulling new SUV's behind them. Amazing.

Let Rosie out to run at rodeo grounds while I drove.

So weak this am..even getting in and out of car was tricky. I also choked every time I tried to drink my iced coffee with or without the straw so resting now then I will try to eat and drink.

The curtains look good if you are on the outside looking in. [Smile]

They are lighter in color to so it is now lighter in the front room which is good.

Hoping the casino has another fire works show next year. The sign said they were celebrating their 40th yr.

The casino is run by an indian tribe. I know the casino has not been there for 40 yrs....they just built the big hotel since I have been here.

Hope you all either get some rest and recover and regroup or are able to do something fun today or better yet...both.

Don't forget.. I'm in Missouri. But it's still weird, huh!?

It's nice today. I think it froze last night .. or close to it, but very pretty and sunny now.

Thanks for tips, kam. I think I'm going to set up my heating pad for the nights. Just put it over my feet or even on top of the blanket?? I don't want it to harm my feet or catch fire!

I hope to order some gloves without fingers. I found some really nice ones on www.footsmart.com .. they look perfect. My hands get really cold during the winter, even in the house. I have a heated MOUSE for my computer that I bought last year. It helps!! [Smile]

well-i finally exercised. 2 minutes on the elliptical and then 4 hours with many many rests in the garden transplanting perrenials from up north

theres still more to go get

i guess thats what no email, phone or car will do ...

it was cool here but really nice out for me-i am always way too hot. and no bugs.

i sat out with etta for a long time and threw her skunk that squeaks and old flip flop. she is going to have so much fun when we get a windy day. she loves chasing leaves in the wind and i now have a big driveway and very quiet street for her to chase them in.

my rotator arm pain is very bad now...i guess i did too much. but i took a neurontin last night and got up at 8 this morning so maybe i am getting used to it. i hope so.

kudz---i know what it is like to have to choose how to spend your energy...everyday i have to think about that

tutu-hope the emfs in heat pad dont hurt you. i used to use them and then got worried about the emfs. now i have these rice socks i put in the microwave---but they dont stay hot all night

i have some really neat sox but i cant think of the name of them...they are made by a special wool...and i am allergic to most wool . but not these
