Welcome to the exercise thread. [woohoo]

Here we encourage each other to get up and move about.

Are you raking leaves, walking, going to the gym, doing physical therapy exercises, cleaning, doing laundry or baking? Anything counts. Or just tell us about your day!

Have a great week! [hi]

I watched the National Cathedral Church service this morning.

Did a load of laundry.

I took my recycling to the bins at the grocery parking lot.

Called and yakked with mom.

Filled the bird feeders. Had to go find the top of one that somehow came off. Windy day, too!

I made a spreadsheet to compare potential medicare advantage plans in case mom's hospital and physician's clinic doesn't sign a contract with Aetna. Her town's newspaper is filled with letters to the editor that are angry about the change and the hospital not accepting the new state retirement plan.

Watched part of the Bears-Vikings football game. The Bears just aren't very good--again!

Leftovers for dinner and then I will read tonight.

I've done just about SQUAT today....except for going to church, eating out, taking a nap, washing a load of clothes, in that order!

Hiker thanks for getting us going this week!

Read the tail end of last week's posts and you guys have been busy!

Jesus Christ Superstar was fantastic! The songs are the same but the stage set and dancing were different. This was an updated version and I loved it! I saw Ted Neely (original JC) in the 2 other shows in the 70's and 90's.

TuTu how cool that your hubs played in the orchestra in the same musical back in the day!

Hiker way to go on breaking out the trekking poles!

Today I did PT for me and Mom (twice for her). Soup and sandwiches for brunch. Managed 2 loads of laundry and dropped off cheesecake to Josh.

He sprung for Chinese takeout so I picked it up and we ate dinner together and gabbed. Mom had my leftover veggie egg foo young when I came home.

So an easy relaxing day that I really needed.

Time to watch TV and veg!

I started my day after breakfast with riding the exercise bike to warm up for my knee and feet exercises.

Beautiful day here, so I trimmed all the coreopsis down halfway to the ground and raked it up to go out tomorrow as landscape waste. Filled up 2 huge garbage cans.

Put away the hoses and cleaned some things out of the garage.

Called mom.

Worked on Bible study.

Spent some time reading.

My neighbor came over to try and figure out why the latch doesn’t work on my front door (I have double doors and I can lock both but not open one of them). He is going to do some research to see if he can get parts to rebuild it. Such a nice guy.

Grilling brats for dinner.

Big coyote ran through the yard earlier. Am seeing more of them around and I live in town. A bit unnerving.

Watch those coyotes Hiker. My neighbors used to warn me about them when I lived in the country.

Picked up breakfast and Mom's meds. Ran errands and gassed up car. Cleaned inside windows of the car. Ate lunch and ran a couple more errands. Then took Mom to her bestie's to drop of the cakes I bought earlier.

Horrid frozen pot pie for dinner and Mom ate a little Kubocha squash that her friend made.

PT twice for Mom and once for me.

Been having upper stomach pain quite often lately and seems to be getting worse. Cutting back on my food and pray it isn't an ulcer.

Please pray for me and my Mom tomorrow. We're driving a couple hours north to Atlanta for her first oncologist appointment. Going to find out our options and next plan of action.

We are both worried but determined.

OK, I've medicated and hope I can sleep. Mom is medicated and already out...yay!

I'll let you guys know what we find out.

AK--Praying you got good information today for your mom. And yiu know we are here for you no matter what! [group hug]

I did my balance, shoulder and feet exercises this morning.

Went to the chiropractor. Got totally soaked in a rainstorm. Been raining all day.

Called Health Alliance to talk to rep about Medicare Advantage Plans. She was helpful and recommended one with no premiums since mom only uses one major hospital and physician's group and no longer travels. Glad she didn't try to upsell me.

Then called the State Retirement System with a whole bunch of questions. First agent was very helpful and then sent me to another agent and I was on hold for 3 1/2 hours! [Eek!]

So, while I was on hold, I worked on Bible study. I cooked a pork loin, and worked on investment stuff, too. Texted with my brother. Finally got my last questioned answered.

Yakked on the phone with a friend.

Ready for dinner and the couch!

AK-Sending positive healing energy and prayers to your Mom and you.

Called LLMD this morning due to really bad weekend. Full moon.
Haven’t seen her in 6 months so blood labs tomorrow morning.

My neighbor came over with apples, pears, homemade ham and bean soup (my favorite) and the last of the chocolate mint tea leaves. I told him him he literally saved my life with his goody bag.!

Dropped dog off at her new groomer. Waited 2 hours then picked her up. Got her home, fed her, walked her and we were in bed for an afternoon nap.

Hoping tomorrow my week long headache will go away.
I need to transplant my geraniums so I can bring them in.
They got to be be around 5 years old.

Birds got to the sunflower heads that I had laid on my backyard lawn table. What a mess.

Hung out all the laundry today. Nice breeze and it all dried completely. Still need to fold it and put it away.

Today I peeled & cut up several neck pumpkins. Enough to fill 15 quart jars. They are in the canners now. Just turned off the burner for the first one.

Have some green tomatoes to chop up for relish and a few colored ones to turn into spaghetti sauce.

20 apples to turn into pie filling, and sweet peppers to cut up and freeze or dry. Sonny has a basket of hot peppers to put up.

BB, our sunflower heads are in a milk crate on the south facing front porch. The cat likes to sit on the railing in the sun, so the birds will most likely let ours alone.

Tomorrow Hubby's parents are coming to visit. Looking forward to spending some time with them. Hubby can take his Dad up the mountain to the pear trees this time. Didn't know where they were last time he was here.

Didn't get good news from the oncologist today. My Mom's cancer has spread to her lungs. PET scan, biopsy and labs ordered. I'm a total wreck.

AK--So sorry that the news was not good. Will be praying for you and your mom.

Lots of rain last night, but it let up this morning, so I went grocery shopping.

Rode the exercise bike, then did my knee and feet exercises.

I yakked with my Georgia friend for quite a while.

Talked to my mother.

Took a nap and was out for a full hour.

Pork loin chop for dinner with broccoli and tossed salad.

Many prayers for you and your mom, AK! Just hang in there and keep praying!!

Had a busy day yesterday. Went to exercise, then to see my friend. We had lunch together as usual.

I was pretty tired by the time I got home, so I took a quick nap and then worked on my Bible study for today.

Today's got canceled because we had too many who couldn't be there. So I'm ready for next week!

We had a storm blow in this morning .. and got zero rain from it. Very disappointing!!

Not much sleep last night. Mom looks very tired. I did go ahead and quit my small part time job sitting with Mrs H and also put PT on hold.

Realized I need to take things off my plate and deal with just caring for my Mom.

Josh helped today by taking me to the bank and signed up on a joint safety deposit box so all Mom's and my own wills, deeds, life insurance policies, etc. are safely stored in one place.

Thank you all for all the love, prayers and support. We need it very much.

Good that you are doing that, AK. Take care of the mundane, so you can put your focus on helping her.

I hope tomorrow things will look a little better for you guys.

Prayers continuing.

Did my balance, feet, and shoulder exercises.

Had Bible study this morning. Great study.

Got an estimate on blowing more insulation into my attic and also re-venting the bathroom fan properly. My house is a money pit. [Frown] But it meant I had to clean out the coat closet, so that he could climb into the attic from the entrance in there. Got rid of some stuff and now it is well organized.

Watched the January 6th committee hearings. I am amazed at all they have discovered.

Am reading a Jodi Picoult book and so just relaxed reading for part of the afternoon.

Leftovers for dinner tonight and then back to my book. You know how it is when you have a good book and you are almost finished with it. Can't put it down. [Smile]

Oh AK, so sorry to hear this about your mom. Will be praying for both of you.

Today Hubby's sister & her hubby stopped in on their way south. Had a nice time with them for an hour.

Showers this morning then the sun peeked through the clouds some this afternoon.

Hubby hooked up the newer heater in the bathroom. Looks much better!

Cooked a kettle full of pumpkin and now have a crock pot full of pumpkin butter cooking.

Have a food dryer full of dried foods to put away. I filled it last night with diced peppers, zucchini and 1 tray of chopped cabbage.

Sonny should cut up his hot peppers to dry them.

Hubby was up to check on the pear trees. He brought a few along back. The pears are only starting to fall and something is eating the ones on the ground. Was it the deer or the mice? Maybe tomorrow we can go pick some from the smaller trees. The big trees are too tall to even use a ladder to get the pears.

Picked 13 saffron flowers today. Had 6 yesterday and 5 the day before. They are just starting to bloom!

Filling the food dryer with cabbage tonight.

Thank you TuTu! I'm trying to take care of things while I can.

Hiker I've stayed up too late many nights because I couldn't put a book down. Might be tired as all get out the next day but have never regretted it.

Today we did PT, twice for Mom and rubbed some Diclofenac cream on her back.

Made a scramble for brunch from leftovers from Longhorns. Had a bit of steak, a whole loaded baked potato and eggs in it. We also had leftover bread so I toasted that and loaded it with butter and fig jam.

Mom worked on an origami craft project and I watched a couple of movies.

Ran to the post office and the mall to make a payment then home for more leftovers.

So basically hardly any cooking today.

Mom and I both are tired. I'm feeling down and I'm sure she is too.

We're blessed to have each other.

Off to either read or watch another movie.

[hi]

For some reason I am dragging today. A bit of a headache and tired, but nothing major.

I did manage to ride the exercise bike a little bit, do my knee exercises and my feet exercises.

Made a meatloaf and froze it.

Made some GF blueberry muffins. Thought I would take some over to mom when we went to the dentist, but the dentist has a bad case of covid so that appointment is postponed for several weeks.

Worked on Bible study for almost 2 hours.

Called mom twice to try and explain the new grocery shopper routine. Slightly different from the old agency and mom is confused. [Frown]

Took a nap in the recliner.

Store bought GF pizza for dinner tonight with a tossed salad. I will add green olives to the cheese pizza.

Relaxing more tonight.

ak-so sorry to hear about your Mom. Keep the faith, there are many praying for your family. It is a blessing that you share a loving bond.

All my blood work came back good but I didn’t hear back from my LLMD. Bummer. I’ve been treating with herbs but it’s not working anymore.

My old boss called and asked me out to dinner. I’m scared to go to restaurants especially on a busy weekend. I told him maybe on a slow Tuesday or Wednesday. Iffy. . . .

I shampooed my porch bamboo rug outside yesterday, then rinsed it and hung to dry. Brought it inside to finish drying last night. This morning my house smelled horrible, like wet hay

Walked the dog.
Brushed all animals outside.
Lazy afternoon and then naps.

My neighbor that was sick (she is still sick) brought over a 9” round homemade chicken pot pie. It was a work of art! I took pictures of it before I cut a slice. It was the BEST pot pie I’ve ever had. I called her to thank her and told her she has mad cooking skills 🥧

I have great neighbors. We all take care of each other.

Super tired, will be early night.

The boys had off from work today. So Hubby had some help with outside projects.

Did laundry and hung it out to dry. Had a nice breeze and it all dried.

I emptied the food dryer, and refilled it.

Peeled apples and filled the crock pot for a batch of apple butter.

Climbed the mountain to check on the small pear trees. One of the boys climbed up and picked the lone pear on the tree.

The boys cooked supper tonight. Spaghetti & meatballs, garlic bread, hot poppers and apple crisp for dessert.

I'm tired tonight.....

Manna--How much space does a food dryer take up? I am intrigued.

BB--It is so good to have neighbors like yours. Mine are super, too.

Ak--I hope your mom can get her tests done soon so you have more information to make decisions.

I slept in this morning. Finally got up at 8:15.

Did a load of laundry. Then did my balance exercises, feet exercises, and shoulder stretches.

After lunch I took a short walk. Gorgeous day out. Around 50 but sunny and not much wind. I walked a lot through grass so I didn't use my trekking poles that much. So odd that on softer surfaces my balance is pretty good.

Watched the Illini-Minnesota football game. Illini are doing well this year. Already bowl eligible which is a miracle for them.

Did a quick errand to Dollar General.

I am bummed that Kroger is buying Albertson's groceries which includes the Jewel-Osco 4 blocks from my house. I am praying they don't shut down my grocery/pharmacy. It isn't huge which is what I like about it.

We have so many grocery stores: 3 Kroger, 3 Jewel, 2 Walmarts, 2 Aldi, 1 Meijer, Fresh Thyme and a few smaller stores. All for a population of 180, 000. But I love the Jewel near me. Lol

Plan to be lazy tonight with a book and maybe a movie.

Hiker, our food dryer is 16" wide, 20" long and 12" high. Our daughter got a round one at a sale. Hers is 13" across and 9 1/2" tall. Hers has 4 trays that are deeper than mine. Mine has 9 trays.

Currently hers is filled with tea and lemon balm and mine has cabbage in it.

This morning went to the bank. Right after lunch 2 of the children went shopping for groceries and feed for the chickens & guineas.

Picked the saffron. 5 flowers today.

Washed 3 loads & hung them out. Was rather breezy today. Have half the wash folded.

Sis-in-law gave us some extra cabbages they grew. Those heads are huge! One cabbage filled the food dryer! I cut up and blanched 1 1/2 cabbages.

Added some cabbage to the potatoes, carrots & sausages we had for supper.

Daughter is testing cupcake recipes to try making some to sell. Tonight was chocolate! Yummy!

One of the boys went with a friend to the top of a mountain to watch the sunrise this morning. Got up at 4 am to be there on time. Said it was very windy up on top! Beautiful views up there.

Made a batch of apple butter in the crock pot. 3 pint jars, plus almost another pint for eating now. The sourdough bread is almost gone with the fresh apple butter!

Guys all the food you've mentioned sounds delicious.

I made a Korean dish called Japchae (rice noodles with meat and veggies) and chicken wings for dinner since Josh was coming over. He bought a pumpkin pie and cool whip for dessert.

Had a busy day picking up trash in the yard, watering plants and grocery shopping with Mom. PT twice for Mom and once for me.

Wiped out and heading to bed. Night all!
