"Keeters" is slang for the spirochettes(sp?), & it's also southern slang for Akita dogs. I correspond with a number of people from the southern United States, who also own Akitas & they use this term when they are joking around. "My 'Keeter's shor-nuff actin' the Goober."

I'm pretty boring on mine. I tried to get my email address as toangie which was obviously taken so I just made it twoangie. I figured that it would also be easier to remember if anyone needed to email me since it is the same line of thought. In addition, there is the plus side of being a Gemini which means I can have mood swings without guilt! So, you never know whether I'm grumpy Angie or happy Angie. It's one of the two!

everything for humans is ultimately tested on them and that's called stage 4 in animal research.
It's the only truly reliable testing for human response to treatment. Non-humans are way too physically different.

I can't be left to get sicker before somebody decides to take alot of healthy beagles and TRY to make them as sick as we are (even though the tissue density and anatomy etc. different---beagles are more "convenient" to work with than we are)just to prove (AGAIN) that long term antibiotic increases the likelihood of a better prognosis with this infection.

Ok you two! I guess you don't think I can see all those Mel Gibson comments..

K-N-O-C-K- I-T O-F-F!

Everyone knows Mel ONLY sees ME on Friday nights... He wouldn't have it any other way!

Tincup is the name.. not tinfoil, saran wrap, or any of those names I have been given by some of the weirdo's here..

My beautiful name, Tincup, comes from a song by my main man... Mr. Jimmy Buffett.

He sings a song and it goes..

"With a tincup for a challice
Fill it up with red wine..
And I'm chewing
On a honey suckle vine."

I lost my home to Lyme.. so I stay in a camper. It is no more than a bunch of recycled beer cans stuck together.. and older than me!

So.. I say I am a Princess and I live in a tincup for a palace. It makes me feel so special...

The Tincup Palace.

Hi everyone!

I decided I would add my two cents too! I picked my name for a couple of reasons... my daughters middle name is Faith... and of course we here all know that we have to keep hold of our faith through these trying times.... and hope... well that would have been (if my second child was a girl) her middle name... and we also all here need to hang on to the HOPE that we will get better... there is always hope!!!!!!! But the greatest of these is love! Do you know that bible verse, faith, hope and love!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone

Thanks Lymetoo!

OK here goes, When I first started dating Roy (Mel Jr., as Tincup likes to call him), my kids were 4 and 5 (and 5), they were not allowed to answer the door unless they new who was there. Roy worked for State Parks had a Smokey Bear belt buckle and they would look through the mail slot in the door and thats all they could see, they would yell, "the Rangers here".

I know Smokey is not California's State Park Mascot, but we adopted him anyway. Our whole family is very fond of him.

Oh, if you are interested, the little fish I put behind my name, indicates I'm a Christian!

I'm in law enforcement and many years (and many pounds) ago I had to have a nickname for radio communications to go with my assigned radio number (855). A co-worker told me "you have stormy weather legs...the kind you want to see clear up"! Well using the association of legs to wheels, somehow the nickname evolved. I was also told it was an appropriate nickname because I used to drive really fast. By the way I married the co-worker!

bathrooms and taking care of peoples houses. Since I am a Buddhist, it seemed dharma had a hand in this, thus, dharmacleaning.

Posted by SassO (Member # 468) on :

Hi You Guys! I've been off a while 'cause I moved cross country (west to east).

I chose mine 'cause my nickname, when I was a kid, was Sass, or variations on that name (e.g., Sassy, Sass-ay, Sassafrass, and, as my big brother so gently would put it, "Sassafrasswiththebigfat. . . ." -- even though I was skinny! You know how big brothers are).

On the outside I was a little angel, made good grades, etc., etc. but those who knew me best gave me this nickname. I was a bit of a smarty pants, kind of sassy, hence the name.

My last name begins with "O" so I just picked SassO 'cause the old nickname still makes me chuckle.

It's been fun reading about everyone's name!

Well - I really loved this question by LymeToo because everyone has such great names on here.
Mine is the simple unthoughtly type - my name - Cyn - short for Cyndie (not Cynthia) but everyone just calls me Cyn.
Im not very good at coming up with names and the only nickname I ever had was Swintz - uh..dont ask.

Tincup - Although It has been made perfectly CLEAR that you have Friday night dibs on Mel .... I wont tell you that in my hometown circle of friends I have had dibs on Mel for years... but ok ok.. I am not the competative type you can have him.. so I will share a bit of info with a fellow mel fan.... He is looking for a house cleaner. Do you clean??? I was thinking about going to knock on his door and apply - except I hate cleaning!!! PS (I know right where he lives.. want to dress up as maids and go trick or ... treating????)HA HA

Ha - this was a great distraction from the work I'm not doing!!!

I picked my name because when I was in college and rodeoing - I always had my CB radio on. One day some truckers were talking about the "girl in the pickup w/ the pony tail" because I was pulling my horses in the horse trailer and I also was wearing my hair in a ponytail!!!

I started using it for my CB "handle" and it's stuck w/ me thru the years.

Plus it's much better than the nickname my best friend gave me in high school -
"scary sherry"!!!

I hope to see more of these!!!

Mine is not overly exciting, like some others, just initials. The unique part about mine is it always reminds me of my mother. I come from a family of 9 kids. My mother named us all starting with the letter J. When she was mad at one of us, she could never get the name out (I guess it was a sorting thing in the mind that took time to process which one she was yelling at), so she would yell with just the first letters Ja Ja.......we all fit the "mold" with our name and we always knew which one she was yelling at!!!

thought i posted to this a long time ago, but i'm not here. well i'm usually not all here, so why is this a suprise?

Caryn is just an abbreviation of my full name carolyn. called carrie for short when i was a child. i answer to every variation of my name. my mom called me lynda. major lyme brain and wasn't feeling very creative when i came up with it.

my other email address is bearkitten60. needed a yahoo account to get emails from the P.O.L.K. website. bear was short for panda bear, my hymilain (i can't spell anymore!) cat's name. kitten because we were going to get a kitten. all easy to remember stuff. but to my suprise, someone had already snagged bearkitten, so i had to add the year of my birth.

You know, after all of this, I was talking to my neice on the phone. She is 21 now, and about 2 years she was in an auto accident that almost killed her and left her with closed head brain injuries. Though she is getting better, it is likely that she will never fully recover, and her life will be much different than it might have been. Yet, she has never lost her lively spirit. I just love talking to her.

Of course, with my own version of brain fog, I started to say something to her and got it all turned around and garbled, and I said that sometimes I felt like I had "cheese for brains". She laughed so hard at that and said she was going to steal it from me.

Ever since, I've been adding it after my name when I post (when I remember!). It just makes me smile every time when I think of the joy it brought my neice when I said that about myself! Maybe someday I'll make it my official screen name.

I could hardly walk at the time and would stay there feeling so sick. I looked up and saw two ladybugs on the wall. I couldn't figure out how they got in because the window was one of those sealed windows. They made my day and for once got my mind off the herxing. The name stuck.S is for my first name- Sheryl.

When I was a child, I was severely abused in a crime ring. (My father and other paternal relatives were involved.) Years later, I began a long and arduous healing journey. I think of my true self, my hearty spirit, as the Phoenix, rising from the ashes. I have had negative associations with stars due to an abusive experience. I decided to reclaim "Star," as I think stars are beautiful. I put them together for Starphoenix. To me, this is who I am, really. Steph

haha great question : the writer in me says:
comunsens was a group i had a few years ago of artists working on antiviolence issues. comunsens is phonetic for common sense, which does not mean, like we usually think of it as "right logic" or something like that, but communal sense - that is, things only make true sense in community when everyone's voice has been heard.(like this posting board!)it also means (because i'm french-english bilingual and live bilingually) in french: comme un sens, which is like "dans un sens ou comme un autre" - kind of like, either this way, or that way, it's all good! kind of thing....and i like signing my letters to ducks: comunsensically yours,

Well, it all started in the 1970. My mom and dad decided they would like another child.
The went to breakfast one morning and talked about it some more. That night my mother had a head ache so nothing happened.(dad was mad)
Well the next day, my mother again had a head ache. (dad was mad once more). Well four years had passed and my mother was feeling a little freaky so the finally got it on. (dad was glad). Well 9 months down the road, out pops me. They talked about it for a while and decided on the perfect name.
A name that would cry out to the world "I am the greatest thing to ever walk this earth"
That name was Chad.
Well after finding this site, I knew it would be a must to create the most original name here. (you know, because I am the greatest thing to ever walk this planet)
Well, after many days I finaly
got it!! I was so excited I woke my wife up to present my new found name. When I told her, her eyes filled with tears from the shear beauty of it.
That name my friends is *Chadster*. Please, I know. Its just the best.

I blended both my daughters names together. Rebecca (always known as Becci) and Amanda (never had nickman).....soo Beccaman for Beccaman Lhasa Apsos. Just a note here, when I first got dx with Lyme, I would read on this site and then it would be days and weeks before I could get back on and catch-up. I used to marvel at all the time you people spent here. Well my Dr put her foot down and said,...we just can't get you better unless you de-stress and stay home and rest. ok, this is fun;

I used to work as a business manager at a large Ford dealership. One of the salesman was a young man from Pakistan. His name is Asher.

My name is Barbara Ann, but I've never used the middle name Ann, just went by my first name, Barbara. He was tickled when he heard my name was Barbara Ann, because of the Beach Boys song.

He started calling me BarbRANN, emphasizing the second syllable and pronouncing it as one word. Before long, EVERONE at the dealership called me that. The 5 is for the 5 in my family, me, hubby, three kids.

Talk about Lymebrains. I could have sworn I had posted to this one awhile ago but apparently I haven't. Anyways here goes...
When I was younger I tended to look at everything through "rose colored glasses" and many of those around me called me Pollyanna. I could always find something good in someone or some situation. Well as I got older this didn't change except that people would say to me "How can you be so Merciful?" Or "Aren't you the one full of Mercy?" in a sarcastic way. I just like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, that's my way. So rather than a long name to type out, I chose the shortest one, that being Mercy and it just seemed to fit once I had decided on it.

My screen name is scrumptious because (Hahaha)... uh this will definately have you going O.o or maybe even >.< ...

Well, you see a group of my friends used to chew on my hair and like lick my skin all the time (odd I know). My very first boyfriend was like we need to think of a name for her other than tasty or sweet. So one time we were all eating gold fish crackers and on the box it says something about scrumptious and he stood up and screamed, "That's it, She's scrumptious!"

It just sorta stuck since then.

Hi lymefriends
I have used badkitti for all my accounts for several years, here is the story behind the name.

I chose Badkitti for my kitty Snoopy.. You see he could not be nuetured (very high risk for surgery)due to medical complications when he was young..

When I tried to add a new male kitty to our home( thought he'd like the company since he was an indoor only kitty) - He loved the kitten for the 1st year then he turned into physco-kitty and fought with the other kitty.. and started spraying to lay claim to HIS home.. I had to give the new addition to friend to stop this badkitti behavior..My badkitti snoopy behaved for many years after that until he passed away last Jan. when he became very ill and had to have an emergency surgery ..He was 10 ..I loved my Kitty more than anything in the world..Still do

I knew I would be posting from work, so I wanted some protection in case they had the nerve to insist I actually do work for them.

If I really wanted to be anonymous I wouldn't have stated where I lived - it's a very small town. I would have said something like Dutchess County.

Thanks for the topic, it's fun! I was sick for 8 yrs prior to diagnosis and felt so lost and helpless during that time. I was initially so excited to get a diagnosis in that I felt I had a target to attack. I envisioned the lymes and the theme music from the movie "rocky" and started attacking. Made a lime green shirt into a warrior shirt with permanent marker and a bead tally. Well, I'm at the end of the 2nd mo now, feeling not too different, and a little less warrior like. But I try to revive the feeling every so often.

I am a Youth Minister with aspirations to be a missionary hence the name. I was hoping to be a bush pilot for missionaries when my kids were in college but now that I am "afflicted" I will never get a medical certificate to fly again. At least I broke 100 hours before I got sick. So I still concider my self Sent By Him to do His work and presently work with 10-12 year olds and occasionally help with the 6-9s as I will tommorow. Lots of fun stories. I owe my lovely wife for finding this site, and tin cup she cannot play golf for the same reason!!

Here goes, I'm jumping in!!

After many years of feeling like crap...("Don't know what you could have", "you'll just have to wait and get sick again" remarks)...I found out I had lyme (after pinning my new GP to the wall)!

Good thing I had someting.
My family has no risk factors and I am an extreme health - fitness nut. I "knew" something was wrong, but always sucked it up and pushed through it anyways.

I am an endurance distance triathlete "on hold". It's pretty amazing that I have completed 2 ironman distance triathlons and 5 marathons, as well as many other events while being on lyme!! and it makes sense why my performances were subpar...it is no longer as frustrating.

Thanks to this site, I've hooked up to a decent treatment program and am totally focused on kicking the LD in the butt!!!

To all the warriors out there-
IMHI here i come!!

Peace and strength to all,

'Kwels' is a Frisian word. It means something like 'lame, crippled'

I also use this name when I'm playing the videogame 'Quake III Arena'. You play this game online with other people. In a 3D fantasy world you attack each other with all sort of weapons. The most common term of abuse there is 'lame(r)':
'You play lame!' or 'fu, lamer!'

In Dutch language 'ik kwel' means 'I tease'. So you could say 'kwels' means 'teaser'.

I replaced the 'e' with a '3' because I think it looks kewls

Ok.. My Turn!!!

Martina McBride, Wild Angels.. theme song maybe? or thats what i feel is watching out for me

Wild Angels Lyrics
Martina McBride

(Gary Harrison/Harry Stinson)

Bewteen the perfect world and the bottom line
Keeping love alive in these troubled times
It's a mircle in itself
And we know too well what that's about
Still we made it through, only God knows how
We must've had a little help
(Must've been)

Chorus:
Wild Angels, Wild Angels
Watching over you and me
Wild Angels, Wild Angels
Baby what could it be

Well it must've been hard, it must've been tough
Keeping up with crazy fools like us
'Cause it's so easy to fall apart
And we still break each other's heart sometimes
Spent some nights on the jagged side
Somehow we wake up in each other's arms
(Must've been)

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
There are some nights
I watch you while you dream
I swear I hear the sound of beating wings

Mine is a name of a character in a book I read, "Ampris". When I chose it several years ago, someone already had it so I added the "My" to it. There are many corgis around that are extra small - almost miniature. My friend calls them corgillas.

The female that I own happens to be the smallest that anyone I know has ever seen so I stole the name for myself.

My name is attached to my own, personal "15 minutes of fame story"(You know, Andy Warhol once said we would all have 15 min.'s of fame in our lives)

I worked for 23 yrs in NYC in the fashion and beauty industry

Anything from an assistant all the way to Vice President in that time frame

Started out as a educator to hairdressers(haircoloring techinques) all the way to researcher in dye-loads after finishing my Ph.D

Along the way--I did hair for designers in top fashion shows

You know--the ones you see in Vogue and such?

Well, way back when--there was a certain well known supermodel who had a REALLY BAD ATTIUDE---and I totally did not care what the H*LL* she thought of me, I told her to park it baby, and get your freakin hair done for this show--I needed to get back to the states and work the next day

Well, she called me a *D*MM Yankee*, which I thought was pretty funny coming out of a Dane
( my co-workers called me D*MM Yankee for years after this!!!)

And I always wear black

So, years later--when I moved to Texas, my old co-workers in NYC---gave me the IM(instant messager) name of *Yankee in Black*

My new Texan buddies think it's funny(the name)

OK, so,

I have a cat, Minou. She's very small, and very beautiful.

When she was a kitten, no bigger than the palm of my hand, she was in the front room when I was vacuuming. She refused to be intimidated and would not move out of the way. When I nudged her with the vacuum cleaner, she swatted it, sat for a minute, then decided to inspect the food bowl in the other room.

And once upon a time, when I got a new German Shepherd puppy, the Nounster snuck up on him constantly for two weeks. She'd do a surprise attack, he'd bark at her or go after her, and then he'd get in trouble with me or my husband. After 2 weeks, he learned to sit quietly and not bother her. After she had him trained, she never bothered him again, and would even groom him and snuggle him.

So you see, I just can't let myself get weak kneed and pitiful with her around.

I am usually an optomistic person - and I have always believed that if you put on a smile - eventually you'll believe it. The word itself also makes me smile - and gives me hope.

That said, the day I registered, I couldn't stop crying and actually it was somewhat of a sarcastic choice. Somedays, especially when feeling crummy, I can laugh at my attempt at humor. It is fun reading these responses - thanks for bringing it to the top!

Peach is for my big, fat, old, orange tabby cat. If she was a person she would be a bossy, crabby old lady stomping around in her housecoat and slippers grumping at everyone.

She is 14 and my vet (who also happens to be my boss) is convinced that she is going to live to be 25. She has the bloodwork of a 3 year old cat and she manages to draw blood (usually mine) every time I have to bring her to the office. Oh dear bartonella!

The 'SC' stands for the show name of one of my horses, 'Southern Charm'. We call him 'Southie' around the barn and he is a big ol' goofball.

My nickname came (kinda) from the movie "A Time to Kill". There is a part in the movie where he whispers "dream some good dreams babygirl" and I don't know if it was the way he said it or his accent, but it gave me goose bumps. I made the mistake of telling the lead singer of the band that I jammed with occasionally about it. Wouldn't you know it... all the guys would whisper the line in my ears to give me the chills! Much to my surprise... the first time I was to sit in with them in public (playing drums) the poster they put up announcing it said "Featuring .... BABYGIRL" well... I was a well known bartender in that area and the name just stuck. Yes... it still gives me shivers! By the way... some of you have e mailed me have e mailed to the name TAMAPLYR... which is also a drum related nickname.. TAMA are the drums I love (loved) to play. Not too many of us chick drummers so I have to get better soon to keep the tradition going!

I haven't lived in the same town for more than a few years since the age of 12, and I lived in most places for 2 years or less. I went to 2 different junior high schools and 4 different high schools in 3 different states (Mississippi, New York and California) and it seems like I haven't been able to sit still ever since. Most of those towns I did not want to leave, but had to for one reason or another (family, job, school, etc. and no, no tar and feathers were involved). The ironic part is that I would very much like to stay in one place.

I've used the name rambleguy in other forums on occasion, so if you see that name, it might be me rambling through cyberspace.

By the way, I just moved back up to Chico, CA last November. 7 months in one place and counting! I'm practically covered in moss.

For decades I have told folks to "be wild" (meaning get the most out of life--think outside the box--push a few limits--dance on tables when the opportunity arrives, etc.)

So now that I have lyme disease, I long for being a wild thing again and even on bad days, I strive to stay wild.....

so be wild all, celebrate life and hug, cuddle and snuggle the ones you love

Sapphire is my real name.(just kidding) And no, I'm not 101 years old.

Actually, I was needing a screen name a few years ago and couldn't think of anything so I looked on my hand and hubby had just bought me a diamond and sapphire ring. So that's where Sapphire came from. As for the 101, just plain Sapphire was taken and 101 was the first number that I put in that wasn't taken.

I need a life, I have just spent an hour reading this whole thread but enjoyed every minute of it.

I've used Fairytale13 before and I like it. 13 is my birthday ( Was born on Fri 13th so watch out) and most days I wish I was living in a Fairytale instead of Lyme-world but hey we can't have it all! My signature is Hollywood because that's my nickname. My name is Holly and wood is a family name plus I do live in the woods far from CA!

I'm glad you clarified that last one, cause with brain fog here above santa cruz, it sounds like something sexual. Lyme can WHAT??

The way most of us feel with lyme, It's generally lyme CANT ----. Cause we cant leave the house first of all...

Anyway, my name is pretty obvious. I live at the top of a mountain, 12 miles outside of santa cruz, with three lovely children, a dog, 2 cats, 8 chickens, 2 goats, and no other adults. Oh, and my spelling is pretty much gone, so I mispelled moma (or is it momma ?)

It is mistaken for hiking trails. I was once in an awkward position of having to say my name when I didnt want to and saw a backpack that was made by TRAILS END. I told them that people just call me "trails." Now I use it for incognito times like the internet. I registered here as plain Trails in 2000, but I can't remember my password so I had to change it a bit.

Any oldies remember these names: APTOS, MAE, MA? They used to post lots back then.

PS:I do so like to hike but only in the desert where there are no ticks with LYME!

I was at my sickest (before abx) and I had to send my 18 year old cat to "kitty heaven". (For you animal lovers, she was a furry soul mate)

The next day I saw THREE, HUGE, RAINBOWS in the sky. I thought it was her sign to me that she made it over the RAINBOW BRIDGE.

"RAINBOW BRIDGE"

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that

has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are

meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water, and sunshine, and our friends are warm and

comfortable. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and

vigor, those who were hurt or maimed are made whole aand strong again, just as we

remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and

content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them who had

to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one

suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent, his eager body

begins quivering. Suddenly, he begins to run from the group, his legs carrying him

faster and faster. You have been spotted, amd when you and your friend finally meet,

you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain

upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and your look once more

into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long from your life but never absent from your

heart.

(i'm a sucker for the Rainbow Bridge theory)

My name is Sandra Lynne De Garcia which is a long name so I took the first 2 letters from each part of my name and it actually spelled something that sounded like a name.

Ive been using it for a few years now.

It was really funny to read this thread and see how everyone comes up with their names.

This was fun. Would like to meet the person from Houston. There arent very many Lymies in the Corpus Christi area.
Rainbow, its kinda funny but i have had a conversation about rainbow bridge 3 times in the last two days.
Anyway, Lemonhead. As i first signed on, i was feeling pretty sour and kinda pithy so lemonhead fit. Now the whole family calls me lemonhead.
I thought about changing to Pointless2, cause my sisters and i sing and call ourselves the Pointless Sisters. I am the middle girl. Pointless2 would work cause with lyme much of the time you are pointless. But for now Lemonhead will stick cause it is 4:40 in the morning and cant figure out how to change the username.

Great thread!

Mine to those that know me makes more sense than I care to claim. [Smile] Before my lyme days, I worked in law enforcement (game officer, police officer) and my lifeblood was my ongoing coffee fix. (It didn't hurt that our county courthouse was between Starbucks, Seattle's Best and various latte vendors...You know what they do, the first one's free, THEN they gotcha! [lick] ) I was easy prey from the start.

When asked on medical exams for blood type...our nurse would joke " I know, dark roasted..." So, I 've since been labled as half human being and half coffee bean...(Been told the Betty Ford Clinic has a special program for folks like me...but as soon as someone brings in the Krispi Kremes, the group loses focus and heads to the nearest espresso stand and then it's all downhill from there....)

So, unfortunately...I've had to "curb" my habit since the lyme, but know don't know if I'm herxing or having caffeine withdrawals... [dizzy]

But don't worry about me...I've found new uses for those "drip" style coffee makers...just combined it with my PICC line and the world is now a better place.

Health and healing,
JavaBeing

My name is Kelly. Here in Arizona, we had a long running (36 years) daily kids show with the original guys...Wallace and LADMO. The most prized possession in Arizona is to go on the show and receive your Ladmo Bag filled with sponsors stuff.

Well, it took me 30 years to finally win one. Ladmo called me Kelmo because I ended up being on the show five times that year. The show went off the air a few days after we were on. Ladmo passed away a few years after that. For anyone who grew up in Arizona, those were dark days.

Steven Spielberg grew up on the show and used to show his little films when he was a young teen. Alice Cooper is an avid fan, as is Stevie Nicks. It was more than a kids show, it was a Saturday Night Live for kids.

Anyway...I'm a big fan..hence the name Kelmo.

OKAY-so my parents were expecting their first child and she was to be born around Christmas time-hence the name Carol.

HOWEVER, there first child turned out to be a boy and he was born in January-hence the name Ron.

WHEN their second child was born and she was a she they just stuck to the name Carol even though she was born in August.

IRONICALLY, when Carol grew up and was expecting HER second child the baby was due on Christmas Day-which was actually a relief because Carol(that's me) did not want to be in the hospital on Christmas day and babies NEVER come on their due date-so I thought I was safe.

BUT as Christmas Day got closer and closer and I got more and more worried about delivering on Christmas Day I asked the midwife if the ole Casteroil (sp)remedy would work by kicking me into labor early so I could be home by Christmas.

She said give it a try-works 50% of the time. A week before Christmas I got up early on a Saturday morn and drank an entire bottle of Casteroil. By Saturday night I went to bed feeling like the world's biggest masochist because it had been the ****tiest day of my life!!!!!!

Christmas Eve I went into labor, and my darling baby girl, named Carolyn, was born on Christmas Day-just as God had planned because my father had died on Christmas day when I was just a wee lass.

Life/Death the world goes round and round .

So did that make an extraodinary story for an ordinary screen name ?-cause it's all true.

Blessed In Balto,
Carol

I definitely earned this belt!

Five years of karate before 6 weeks of training and a 5 hour black belt test and that was the 40 and over people.

My daughter took her first degree and it was 9 hours long - almost no resting.

Second degree was more about maturity and discipline and time put in.

In our school - there's no 1 year black belt that so many in this country give out for the sake of making money.

Doing all of this with lyme disease was a very personal challenge for me. Many days I've been in class feeling like I can't do another kick but I kept going. Of course, nobody understands lyme except our friends on this board and my sweet husband.

The reward has been extra special for me and has kept me in good shape and eating properly (who wants to work out with a stomach ache [dizzy] )

And ~ that's my story,

Sandy

As for my odd-looking name--here goes:

"Niere" (pronounced "nee-air-ay" with a slight roll over the "r") actually comes from Tolkien. Tolkien was a linguist and most of his writing stemmed from the fact that he wanted a world in which his languages could live.

"Niere" is my real life name, but translated into one of his Elvish tongues.

Yes, I'm a Tolkien fan. Long before the movies though! But I do adore the films.

Tick Tock may seem obvious.

Aside from the reference to ticks, I am always looking for speedy solutions, a faster way to do things and am inpatient when things don't happen as fast as I would like - including the obliteration of Bb.

I had thought of naming myself "LymeZilla". That is probably self explanatory.

I chose "littlelymie19" because I'm little, I'm a lymie, and I'm 19!

Okay, well, I'm not exactly "little" height-wise. I'm 5'6. Lyme has caused me to lose massive amounts of weight though, so I'm on the rather "little" side of the scale. At one point, I think my BMI dropped to about 15, but now I'm back up to 18 (woohoo! I'm on the charts!). I still look rather "little" though. Kind of giraffe-like. Perhaps my screen name should have been "lymedgiraffe19".

Back in the rain reminds me of something that makes me happy (music), even when sickness won't let me enjoy all the other important parts of my life.

It's a phrase from a Bob Dylan song that I like and that my Dad sang for me when I graduated college.

And it conjures up something kind of nice for me - a sadness and longing for things past (health) but learning lessons and making it thru.

I write Christian music. Have done a little performing, and recorded a short song, but can't play the piano and sing at the same time anymore. (forgetfulness, and panic.)

Enter computers and Sibelius. Once I get it all up and running I can record all backgrounds to cd. Time and energy are in low supply, and I have a lot to learn, but I persevere.

My husband's illness (carotid artery dissection, staph infection and Lyme Disease) as well as my own (Misdiagnosed for 25 years, and finally being treated for Lyme ) Has interrupted the work frequently, but I keep working in that direction.

I use Melodymaker for many internet sites, but my real name is Rita. =) My friends know that, and now, so do all of you!

Right now, though, we live in the city, but at least it's on the outskirts and has a little bit of an open feel to it. Looking forward to the day when hubbie and I feel well enough to be able to travel more again.

Thank you Lymetoo! That made me feel good!

Oh, and randibear I can totally understand about not remembering if you posted or not and yes, I'm also OCD enough to check through the whole list to make sure! [dizzy]

Anyway, I have to tell you, whenever I read your name, I can hear Austin Powers saying it in my head! [Smile]

It's been my username for the last 15 years. It's the color of a car I owned. Everyone knew me by the car, so they'd call me Blue, MB, or Metallic. Just stuck.

Mom of two adorable Boxer dogs!

The enormous (think Mastiff) male has the softest fur on the planet and a smile that takes up his entire face. (Think long jowls, inverted.)

He is a sweet, mellow guy. Right now, he is kissing (more like mopping) my husband, who is lying on the couch having a major Babesia herx.

The female is trouble in a Boxer suit! She thinks she's the Queen of All Things and has her sight set on world domination.

She frequently "gets her drag on," pulling herself around the living room on her stomach, back legs extended, dragging herself by her front claws. We think it feels good on her tummy. (She gets hives when we mow the grass.) Mostly, we think she looks ridiculous.

Proud dog parent,
BoxerMom

Mine is a particular planet that my PCPs believe I came from when I bring up anything Lyme related.

lovemychaos...

3 boys - 2 teens and an 8 year old

The teens
One drives, ones about to.. musicals, wrestling, band, choir, baseball, student council, knowledge bowl and debate... just out of the older two!

My house has become a teenaged boy flop house for the multiple friends. Evidently we have "good food and good Xbox here".

The 8 year old
Born with a rare syndrome, he has 16 regular doctors.. 5 of them on the east coast. We are in MN. The past 6 years have had many nail biting, praying moments. But he's stable now! Yay.

So.. that means swimming pools, bikes, trucks, play dates, camping trips, and just getting through all the questions each day. LOVE IT!

2 dogs over 100 lbs. - One who is very perceptive. When I'm going to flare or have a bad day, he knows it first. He's standing by the bedside waiting for me in the morning.

Ironically, we hoped that this particular dog would attach to our son and be a perceptive friend for him on a bad day. He picked me.

5 cats.. (at the moment) they think I need saving, cuz they keep showing up in my yard

One lovely husband who puts up with me
though he is sad that we didn't pursue this lyme issue years ago right after the bite, the bullseye and the doctor who thought I didn't need medicine cuz' I wasn't feeling ill.

We were so busy with brain surgery and etc. with our son, we just let it get away after that.

and then?
School bus route, piano teacher, keeper of the insurance mess of our youngest son, website design ... and I manage a large campground in the summer.

Hence... my chaos
and yes I do love it!... just don't ask me if my house is clean.

I hate this Lyme, as do all of you. I always feel like I'm letting so many people down when I have to "shut down" for self preservation.

what a fun thread....

well here is how i came up with mine.

To me life is never black & white.... always shades of grey, depending on ones perspective.

In MY case the world is always shades of purple, black , grey & white just don't do it for me.

To me i see in purple not grey.

So there you have it.

i always see things in shades of purple, only the intensity of the shade changes. Lol
