Just started doxy last week (8 days ago) got the Hrx reactions but I feel worse than I ever did before I started the medication. Getting up out of ben to type this e-mail is the 1st thing I've done in 3 days. Is this normal? I am so tired I have been either in bed or on the couch.
Just wondering.
I'm so sorry that doxy has knocked you down...have you spoken with your LLMD about this?
From my own personal experience...
I have taken doxy only twice- at the very beginning of diagnosis, and it packed a wallop of a herx! 4 days after beginning...I felt the worst I had ever felt...I quickly learned what a herx was this way!
The second time, I went on Doxy as an interum med between meds. I was waiting for my IV meds to be approved, and found myself unmedicated for almost 7 weeks.
So, I asked for some doxy to at least hold the infection at bay. I took only 200mg then as well for only two weeks...and I was immediately in zombie-ville the entire time.
Once again, I herxed quickly, but this time it was combined with a debilitating fatigue.
I am 'normally' very energetic, but doxy knocked every last ounce of 'get up and go' right out of me.
So, I suppose it certainly could be one of the factors contributing to your recent fatigue...
but, again, I would advise you to speak with your doc, OK?
My best,
Melanie

Hang in there. Good luck and I hope you don't feel too bad. Vee Vee
Its a good abx though, give it time.
I swear its actually put my body in the lowest gear possible, but my brain goes nuts and still wants to go. Catch 22, but overall, the abx is good for me.
all- I guess what I'm feeling is 'normal' for this abx. I have barely pulled myself out of bed for two weeks, but hey I see my new llmd today, hopfully I'll find out something encouraging. Unfortunatley I have to finish out this semester and there is still 5 weeks to go. I have a huge paper due next thursday and I don't even have the energy to go to the library much less write a outline.
On the bright side my my house is a disaster but my husband has been really supportive. He's even taking half a day off work to drive me to the dr. I'm just happy he's been so great about this.
I know Doxy is a good abx, but is there something that won't kill my drive. I can handle almost anything except this state of lethargy I seem to be finding myself in. It's actually worse than the fatigue I experience with Lyme...
Thanks for all your responses,
Corinna
