Well, that stinks.

If it's any help, my father is doing wonderfully well after his bout with prostate cancer several years ago -- and the treatments are better now. He's 83, gets around fine, and is at the top of his Intermediate Spanish class at the local JC. (He likes to keep himself entertained).

Best wishes, deep breaths.

Kent,

I hear anger is good. The theory is that enpowerment follows.

I, too, have heard good results from people with prostrate cancer.

This too shall pass.

Hey Kent,

If it adds any comfort, my grandfather was also diagnosed with prostate cancer............that was 28 years ago. He's still around and busy telling war stories.

Hang in there!

Trout,

So very sorry to hear about your Dad.

This won't make you feel better, I know, but my husband has had metastatic prostate cancer for 15 years, had a prostatectomy, and had every kind of surgery and complicaation that goes with it...but he's here, and doing well.

They've come a long way with this disease.

Yes, you do have a lot to deal with, but, somehow, without knowing you, I know you'll come through, as will your family.

Trout,
Words just can't express how I feel about this new medical problem in your family.
I can only imagine how overwhelmed you must be with another difficult situation.

As others have said, lots of progress has been made in treating prostate cancer. There are many options now & many success stories.

You're a strong person & I know you & your family will deal with this in the best way possible.
With your faith, your family, & your friends, you'll be given the strength & support you need, especially with your LymeNet Family to lean on.

Let us know if there's ANYTHING we can do to help you & your family.
Will be praying for each & every one of you!!

It's so hard to understand why some families, me included, are hit with many different devestating diseases more than others. Kind of like why do bad things happen to good people?

Then I ask myself, why not happen to me?

Seems now, in my life, I have gone through one life devestation after another.

I've gone through a lot throughout my years, loosing my only sibling to suicide and then being widowed at the young age of 38...it just goes on and on, it seems.

But, now I am 53 and realize that I am not alone. I pray that someday, in death for me, that I will then have the understanding as to why these things happen to us.

I will add you father to your family list in my prayers. God bless you and give you strength...ICN I pray.

Rosemary

I am so sorry to learn this, Kent. I will
also add to the list that my uncle had
prostrate cancer and beat it...now in 80s.

May you get a break, brother.

Di

Trout,

What an ordeal! I hope some of the caring that you put out in the world is coming back to you in the form of real help for you and your family.

2001 was a year like that for me. Please be very careful. You become very vulnerable during times like you are going through, and you need to be extra aware.

May more ease come into your life and your family soon! May all therapies be effective and easeful. May each member feel themselves loved and cared for. May your worries be lifted.

Well Poop!!! This is certainly unfortunate news. I know there's that saying that God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but then it goes on to say that we wish that God had a little less confidence in us! Hope I said that right.....I have lyme disease, you know....

Several friends and my uncle have all been successfully treated for prostate cancer. Most opted for the surgery, but did so at different facilities. One went to Johns Hopkins, another to NYC and my uncle locally. They are all doing well and have clean bills of health.

I am confident that your Dad will come thru this well. I'm sending you and your family healing thoughts.....

Echoing Cootie..

"I know God never gives me more than He thinks I can handle, but WHY does He trust me so much?"

I imagine He has good reason to trust you, Sir Trout.

But still sorry your load is so heavy right now..

Keep the faith!

Mo
