My LLMD told me to only take non-dairy pro-biotics.
Does this mean we should avoid consuming any dairy foods?
. . .and what about plain yogurt? I eat goat yogurt that's only got 2 gms of sugar.
Any enlightenment on the subject would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Becky

Hope this helps both of us!

In March of this year, report in newspaper about how a scientific org in Alta, Canada was working on treating cows bitten/ill with lyme and co-infections. Apparently thousands upon thousands of cows/beef in U.S. and Can and elsewhere lose $$$ each year to lyme, etc. Scientists explained what happens to cows/cattle when bitten. All cows are bitten and can usually have up to several hundred ticks on them, saw the pictures. The cows/cattle are given huge doses of abx to ward off lyme, it used to worked quite well but farmers are finding out that the abx are not working that well and abx are taking much longer to be effective. Also some thought that abx are not working.
The part I found horrifying was when they explained what happens when cow gets bitten. The cow gets sick, gets abx, gets better but the abx and lyme goes into both the meat and cows' MILK. We are drinking this stuff. This wasn't fiction I was reading.
If the cow is unhealthy it dies within a day, pretty drastic I would say. So Maddog you might be drinking lots of milk, which tells me your immune system is probably healthier than others and you are mighty lucky.
Most of my relatives back east in New Brunswick are big time cattle/milk farmers. I discussed this article with a cousin there who is not a farmer and he said if consumers really knew what was in milk, we wouldn't drink it.
Needless to say I still have organic cream with coffee. Only cheese I am eating now is a goat organic feta cheese and have tired goat yogurt. I am going to try and make my own with goat milk.
Take care
Corinne
Yes, that anti milk report sure left me with an "I don't think so" when I walk down the isle of milk.
LET'S HEAR IT FOR SOYMILK!! hehe
I have never really drank much milk, even when I was a young one. Never liked the taste of it, plus leaves me with a big yucky to get out of my throat.
Becky, did you find any more info? I am interested my self on the dairy foods.....and non-dairy pro-biotics? Not sure what that is.
While trying to do no yeast and sugar while on abx, I would hope that I can at least have my cheese! (I know, cow's milk)
Thanks! Amanda
I haven't yet run across any info to clear up my confusion. I guess I'll just wait until I see my LLMD and ask him.

Your situation was probably the same aka400x. But I haven't heard anything of the sort about the antibiotics taken for Lyme.
You all should be ok.
Generally speaking, I don't eat yogurt ... but occasionally I get really hungry for it and buy some. I read labels and get the one with the lowest sugar content and NO aspartame!
MADDOG...my NK count was 14 when I was first dxd with Lyme. I'd be curious to know if the count has gone UP or DOWN with treatment.
