Tomorrow the movers are coming out to estimate and we will probably be moving next week. Yeah!! We had taken a couple of pickup loads down so we could stay on the island occasionaly.
The only way to get our big stuff over to the island is by boat, the state has a LCM.
For you that don't know Angel Island is located in the middle of San Francisco Bay.
This will be nice that I am closer to my LLMD, but it will take some getting used to. There are no stores on the island, so we have to take the ferry over to Tiburon to grocery shop and we will leave our car parked there too.
We feel very fortunate for this opportunity, the views are spectacular and we get to live in a huge house built in 1893, we will miss living just down the street from my daughters and "Grandcubbies", but the house is big enough to fit us all for visits and we will only be a hour away.

This is the website for Angel Island, the top picture is of the house we are moving into.
There is so much History in the park, its going to be fun to learn and explore, I just have to watch out for those ticks!
I'll write more after the move.

But, I had no idea this is what you were talking about until I read your post.
Sounds mighty fine!
What a great experience for you guys. I hope you adjust and enjoy the view!!!

A relative of mine was superintendent (or something) there a long time ago... in the early 60's. I think his name was Don Royer? That could be all wrong because I was pretty young.
I remember visiting them. A boat ride on the bay (my first); going up some stairs to their big house; eating frozen grapes (it's funny the details we remember); and touring the island, including an old schoolhouse with old-fashioned desks with inkwells still there.
I'll bet it's changed a lot since I saw it!
Best wishes and good health to you both!
Dan

You would be surprised how little the island has changed, you know the state and the lack of money.
We would love for you to come see us some time, maybe it will bring back some old memories.
