Please tell us what is going on in your neck of the woods.

I'll start.

I was able to get out of Dodge today. It is an hour drive into the next town. A friend took me to pick up my meds.

On the way we passed field after field of harvested cotton.

From a distance the cotton looked like rows of white trucks.

I don't think I have ever seen so much cotton. There were these truck size bundles lining the edge of the fields along the highway and then back as far as you could see.

My friend told me that they spray the leaves to kill them off so the machines can then come in and harvest the cotton.

She also said that the different colored tarps on top of the truck like bundles are color coded as to where each one is going.

I also say semi trucks carrying the normal smaller bundles of cotton down the rode and a few cotton gins.

I wish I was in the classroom. I would really like to take the kids on a field trip so we could all learn more.

If those cotton fields get rotten you can't pick very much cotton.

It was down in Lousiana just about a mile from Texarkana...in them ole,,,, cotton fields back home.

The trees should be at their best fall colors this coming week. Many spots just a little higher than my home are beautiful, and the temperature yesterday went into the 70's, so my son and I both took a short bike hike nearby.

By picking a flat route, and taking a couple of breaks to enjoy the scenery, I made a couple of miles just fine. We saw some lovely old homes decked out for Halloween, admired the leaves reflected on the river, and explored an ATV trail with our mountain bikes. The grand finale was passing by a pet store on the way back to the car, and petting the little kittens, awww!

I know I'm better than I was a month ago, but seeing my son is especially thrilling. A year ago, he would have preferred sitting in a dark room. Now, he wanted to keep going, even when it was time to go home.

It is great to hear that your son is prefering to be outdoors instead of in his room. He must be feeling better.

It is also great to hear that you were able to ride your bikes if you kept it to flat roads.

I haven't seen any fall colors around here yet, but am looking forward to it.
 

An amazing thing in "my neck of the woods" is that the Bradford pears are in full bloom and putting on new leaves...

Go figure. Even though I live in a warm climate that is UNUSUAL even for here.

Enjoy the fall colors if you are in an area that actually has a fall season.

I love autumn, but I can't tolerate being outside to enjoy it because of Raynaud's. I watch it from the car, from the window. It's the best time of year on the East Coast, in my opinion.

I've had more wildlife than I care to around here - my indoor cat brought a chipmunk into our house - the darn chipmunk was stupid enough to sneak under the door onto the screened in porch where my cat was sunning itself. So....cat on the prowl, one scared chipmunk in my dining room and me letting off pathetic girly screams!

Of course hubby isn't home so call the neighbor - he chases it around the house a bit, then the chipmunk disappears. We think it went out the open door....wrong wrong wrong.

Fast forward 24 hours....my daughter and I sitting at the kitchen table. We hear a strange noise in the family room - the chipmunk is sitting on a table looking at us! Hubby out with sons, so call neighbor again. They can't get it. Now daughter and I both engaging in girly screams. Hubby called and we finally chase the darn thing out of the house!!!!!

Oh brother!

I would like to see that.

I recall living in Northern CA. I was on the road a lot driving to and from work. The fall colors were unlike any I had ever seen before.

I have lived in the city or on the coast most of my life so I had never experienced the vibrant colors of fall before.

Once you do experiencing them...you certainly look forward to seeing them again.
 

I lived in a beautiful town in Northern California and went for walks along a beautiful waterfall and through the forrest.

I also lived at the beach and enjoyed going for walks twice a day there too.

When I moved here, I knew I was out in the middle of nowhere but only 2 hours from the beach or mountains so I thought it would be OK.

I didn't expect to come down with lyme and be housebound for the most part.

So, It would be great to hear what you can see through your eyes for those that are out and about and/or have beautiful views.
 

I hear there is something special to use to wash that smell out but I can't recall what it was...vinegar?

I like to watch for tracks in the snow and try to figure out which critter left them.

A wood burning stove is nice. I think it is my favorite.

Thanks for the pic since my area has Bradford pear trees in full bloom and putting on new leaves and pecan trees leafing out this was a welcomed view!

I do recall the word snow and large fluffy flakes.

And something about the temp dropping 30 degrees in one day.

We have rain here today. No big thunder storms...which I really enjoy. Just a steady flow of water dripping down.

A friend came in from the canyon. She said the creeks are filled to the brim. I told her I'd like to see that.

She said she doubted that I would be able to get a few feet past my door in the power chair because it is flooded all around me.

I like the sound of the rain though. I am enjoying that. And the cool air.
 

I live in Western PA and the Fall leaves have been beautiful. The weather however has been downright COLD!
North of us has already had some snow flurries the other day. My kids are enjoying the weather and the leaves but I tell you my joints sure are not!!

Well, it's great weather here...in the 70's, cool at night. The fall color is not quite at peak yet, and it was very dry up until about 2 wks ago. So the color won't be as nice since many trees have dropped leaves or now have brown leaves. Nevertheless, it will be pretty.

Everyone is busy going to shows here. The fall season is very busy in Branson. So much to do and not enough time to do it!

The Christmas shows will begin the first part of November. That is our busiest season for the theatres. The Christmas shows are spectacular. So we get to celebrate Christmas for 2 months! Nope, don't get tired of it!

The hills are alive with the sound of music!

Spend a good deal of time making sure all my girlfriends are still talking to me. d;')

Endless trips one way then another trying to find my way to the finish. Funny how different the world looks from 8 feet up in the air. Lots of things I drive by all the time now are much clearer.

Mountains of 'gold' to look over. Knowing full well what it took to get it there and to get it hauled away.

Coyotes today that seemed as tame as a puppy dog.

Ever notice all the animals are acting VERY strange this year. Very heavy coats for now too. I heard the last time there was three hurricanes in Florida was the winter they couldnt dig there way out in North Dakota. Snow banks deeper than peoples houses and grain bins. Then spring came and great floods insued. The Red river made historic highs. Animals are great forcasters.

Actually I lose track of my days and months, one day is as bad as the next and no better than last week or month. It is August isnt it? Kids just going back to school?

Nothing but ho-hum normal around here. Two day drizzle has give me a two minute break from one project only to be greeted with five more that need done as badly!!! Or worse.

Have a nice ______,what ever season it is!

Have to go snuggle up to my standard sleeping partner. Four big fluffy pillows. And you thought other wise? Not here folks, cause I am --just don--

 

This is about the 3rd time I have heard that we are in for a very cold winter.

Perhaps you should saddle up and head those girls out west.

We could call it a lyme drive. You would have fresh riders and horses as you enter each county in each state.

All those with neuro borreliosis could mount up.

It would be quite the sight.

I don't know how long it will last....I think it has just been the past few days.

If I recall, last year it came and went too fast.

Just hope I can get out and about and enjoy the trees while they are putting on the show!

I had lunch today with a person who has cattle on their land.

They said the rains have been really nice because the cattle have fresh grass to eat. He said usually this time of the year they are really scrounging for food and the hay is being throw out because the land is so dry.

They are having trouble with coyote, bobcats and lions going after the calves though.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to ask what they do about that so I didn't.
