Hi:

My Western Blot came back positive...good and bad news I guess. Does anyone have any suggestions in dealing with the intense panic, fear and anxiety??? I can't take any type of addictive substances, and the 'hot bath' techniques help but not really...

Thanks.

Hey sunny...

LOVE THAT NAME!!!

I am sorry to hear you are sick.

We will try to help you if we can.

Quick question.. and I am not trying to avoid answering or trying to be getting too personal.. but...

Is the anxiety you feel caused by the recent Western Blot coming back positive?

Or.. is it a condition you had prior to being diagnosed.. like one of your main symptoms?

Or.. are you already on meds and you fear the meds or your future?

Or.. are you just starting meds and noticed this symptom appear out of nowhere... or increase since starting the meds?

Again.. sorry to ask so many questions.. I just want to provide as good of an answer as possible.. and don't know the cause of the anxiety.

For example.. I could say.. if I thought you were worried about the test results themselves...

Go eat an ice cream cone and relax.

But I have a feeling this would not be appropriate in this case?

The more information you can provide to us.. the better we can respond. OK?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

The panic has nothing to do with the WB results...I've been experiencing panic like anxiety for the last 5 months before I knew I had lymes (they're estimating that I've been infected for 6 months). It's not an emotional 'panic', it's a physical panic like my adreanals are pumping 24 X 7 and I'm in this Fight or Flee mode - following this, as a response, I begin to have the typical emotional anexiety. It's really not related to Meds...I'm taking Neurontin and tylenol for pain and I'm trying to start my antiB.
On the personal note, I'm a recovering alcholic, sober for 10 years, but the challenges that I face surround fear and 'fear of fear' and the feeling of being physically not in control...but, the panic I'm experiencing is FIRST a physical maladay in response to the hormones in the deficiencies in the adreanals/endocrine system, then it moves into the emotional world.

Sunny,
I can relate so much to your adrenaline issue. My adrenals have been tapped out a long time (had lyme for 20 years).

At some point, if you don't already, you will probably turn towards meditation. It has helped me tremendously. I turned my nose up to it for many years, thinking that meditation seemed way too simple. I had nothing to lose and it happend to bring me through some of my darkest moments.

Also, don't want to sound too simplistic, but there are days that I get by staying focused 1 minute at a time. It]s worked so far. And, there have been many many days that I didn't think I would make it through.

congrats on 10 years - quite an accomplishment

I ended up having to go on Buspar for my anxiety. My heart would take off flying at times and other times with skip beats....as many as 7 in one minute of time.

I also would have to leave buggies with items in them sitting in the middle of the stores at times. Would feel like I couldn't breath and like I was going to die. I don't feel like that anymore. Buspar was a lifesaver for me.

I'll use it until healed of my lyme or at least until the brain stuff is healed and I can survive without it. Your sanity is at stake here. Please, at least take note of these suggestions and ask your Dr. about them.

God Bless You,

Pam
