I, too, hope there is a good turn out. How are the doctor's being notified?
I personally intend to send it out to some doctors who may be receptive. That's who we really need to go! So anybody you can think of would be great.

Thank you, riversinger!!
I take it that the public is invited, as well? Trying to get my posts in here, so haven't been to the calda website yet).

I am able to lay on my back and use the keyboard to communicate.
But, getting the flyers out to doctor's I have seen in the past is not realistic at this time.
I am hoping that people will read this and get the flyers out for me.
The first person who comes to mind is the Pharmacist Tim with Prime Infusion. I think he or his doctor friend who may have lyme may be interested in this.
His address is Prime Infusion Network, 227 W Acequia St. Visalia, CA 93291
Second, I think of the infectious disease docs at UC Medical Center in Fresno. I'll have to get back to you with the address and names. (They have interns from UCSF Medical Center. I was told I didn't have lyme because my unilab test was negative and even if it was positive it is a false positive and there is no lyme in CA)
Third: UCSF Medical Center. Again, the address and names of neuros I saw will come later.
Fourth: Samsun Clinic in Santa Barbara...more info to come later.
Whewph..worn out...break time...
Are you attending, riversinger?
Heartfullmommy, I'm working on getting a price reduction for Lyme patients, or at least for support group leaders.
The conference is really for doctors, and offers CEU credits, so is priced within the standar for the area. Just too high for us!
One of my doctors is a member of the association, and the other is speaking at the conference, so I'm hoping I can get us in. If I go, I'll let you all know what I learn.

I also hope that you are able to attend the conference and let us know how it went.
At this point, we will be happy to add any doctors who can diagnose and treat. The conference has some of our top ILADS doctors speaking, as well as some of the better known alternative doctors, like Klinghardt and Cowden.
There are a large number of alternative M.D.s out here who specialize in treating CFS. If they could get enlightened about Lyme, it would change things big time. I'm guessing they may be more likley to go to a conference like this, than to something put on by Stanford.
Our doctors out here are already overwhelmed, with patients coming in from halfway across the country. We NEED more doctors. This conference ha sthe potential to expose the Lyme issues to a whole new audience.
The Orthomolecular conferences have good attendance, people who might not ever hear of or make it to an ILADS conference. They are well respected out here, so can draw people in based on their history.
Yes, they have some experimental things included. Practitioners, and patients, will have to pick their way through to find out what makes sense.
But with Dr.s Fallon, Stricker, Barkely, and Jones speaking, antibiotic treatment will be well represented.

I just finished "The Politics of Cancer Revisited" by a Dr. Epstein, who suggests that prevention is where we should be focused, and he isn't just talking about smoking. This was very eye opening, and now I see that medical establishment goofs on Lyme disease are not an abberation.
It is just that alternative is so often equated with dubious practices, whether it is or not.
Maybe the west coast is more tuned in to alternatives. I do hope that it helps to get more docs involved in treating Lyme. It is very much needed.
I have inserted the location and costs and highlighted them. Believe it or not, this is a fairly reasonable cost for a conference and hotel these days!

< The first program, ``Heart Health: the New Paradigm -- Oxidation, Inflammation, Methylation and Coagulation'' will be on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 24th and 25th. Cardiovascular disease has never been a more important subject than it is today. CVD is still the leading cause of death in the U.S., claiming over 900,000 lives annually. The American College of Cardiology recently endorsed aggressive guidelines that would put tens of millions of Americans on cholesterol- and blood pressure-lowering drugs -- but at what price? What causes abnormal LDL/HDL ratios and levels in the first place? And are cholesterol levels the crucial problem? Attendees at the conference will benefit from hearing from and interacting with distinguished experts to discuss advanced therapies that treat the real physiological risk factors for CVD. On Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27, the second half of the meeting will be devoted to ``It's About Lyme: Testing, Diagnosis, Protocols -- and Controversies.'' The realization is growing that Lyme is not just endemic to areas of high tick concentrations, but is widespread throughout patients all over the country displaying symptoms of chronic degenerative and autoimmune diseases. However, confusion and controversy surround Lyme more than ever. It remains one of the most difficult illnesses to diagnose and treat, and there are still major differences of opinion over these issues, and even over the origin and nature of the disease itself. Representatives from major testing laboratories, academic researchers and several of the country's leading front-line physicians will share their insights to clarify the problems and provide a variety of tools to improve Lyme diagnosis and treatment.>>
Let the doctors know about this conference. We need to get some more educated. ------------------ I'll keep looking in my archives in the meantime. Thanks
November 18, 2004 OHM announces its first ever Lyme disease program at its The Society for Orthomolecular Health-Medicine (``OHM''), the organization founded by Linus Pauling, is featuring a comprehensive, inclusive program on Lyme disease as one-half of its upcoming annual meeting, Feb. 24-27, 2005, in San Francisco. The conference has been approved for 25 CME credits. The realization is growing that Lyme is not just endemic to areas of high tick concentrations, but is widespread throughout patients all over the country displaying symptoms of chronic degenerative, autoimmune and fatiguing diseases. However, confusion and controversy surround Lyme more than ever. It remains one of the most difficult illnesses to diagnose and treat, and there are still major differences of opinion over these issues, and even over the origin and nature of the disease itself. At this program, entitled ``It's About Lyme: Testing, Diagnosis, Protocols--and Controversies,'' experts from major testing laboratories, representing virtually every type of Lyme test, will give individual presentations and participate in panel discussions with Q&A from the audience. Researchers, including faculty from the schools of medicine at Yale and Columbia, will present their latest findings. And several of the country's leading front-line physicians will share their experiences using both antibiotic and non-pharmaceutically based protocols. These clinicians will also take part in group panels, providing attendees with a variety of tools to improve Lyme diagnosis and treatment. Even Lyme specialists will also benefit from the second half of the OHM conference that deals with another epidemic. That is ``Heart Health: the New Paradigm -- Oxidation, Inflammation, Methylation and Coagulation.'' Heart disease is still the leading cause of death in the U.S., claiming over 900,000 lives annually. With the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association recently endorsing aggressive guidelines that would put tens of millions of Americans on cholesterol -- and blood pressure-lowering drugs, cardiovascular disease is no less topical and controversial than Lyme. Attendees will benefit from interacting with a distinguished faculty of experts to discuss advanced therapies that treat the real physiological risk factors for CVD. Conference brochure and registration form are available online at www.orthomed.org. SOCIETY FOR ORTHOMOLECULAR HEALTH-MEDICINE ------------------ I am hoping others will send them an email too. I think the more that contact the papers regarding this the more they might take notice.
If you know any doctors who would be interested, be sure to let them know. There will be panel discussions in addition to the scheduled speakers. ------------------ I received an email letting me know that audio's will be available after the conference. 415-828-8442 OHM
I just had my first re-check yesterday after being on doxcycline for a month, doing well, had a few hexes---wow...anxiety attacks are not fun...never had them before now....but ...what I wanted to say here is, that my doctor told me yesterday that he is going to this conference in San Franciso next week! He is really looking forward to it, and hopes to come back with good info for his lyme paatients, so I'm excited! Thanks for all the good info here. God Bless, Carol

Thanks Riversong. I sent the press release and a short personal story to the Fresno Bee and another paper that has several small circulations on the outskirts of Fresno County.

This conference is in coming up fast! I know a bunch of patients who will be going, but I sure hope some doctors will be there, as well. Otherwise, as usual, the patients will be better educated than the doctors!
