Hi everyone,

Haven't gotten to post for awhile trying to hang on to my career while fighting the keets at the same time. Doing a little better - although after 9 weeks of IV Roc I am beginning to wonder when the fogginess might go away.

Anyway - having a minor meltdown right now over my 12 year old. Over the past several months she has complained periodically about pain in her right knee. Then she started mentioning occasional dizzy spells where she feels like the world around her is tilting - these have been very short (seconds or a few minutes at most) with no sign of other problems.

Last weekend the knee started hurting more severely and the pain spread to include up her thigh at times and down to her ankle for a few days. This has not subsided. At the same time the dizziness has become constant and progressivley worse over the past week.

We've been to the ortho - and xrayed the knee - normal.

Been to the ear, nose and throat guy - no clue on the dizziness.

At this moment I am in the waiting room while she has MRI's on both her brain and knee.

Have any of you with lymie kids seen this kind of presentation?

Her father and I are divorced (although I am still close to his family) and while my current husband is incredibly supportive - there is doubt in the families minds over my DX because it is mainly clinical (WB's have come back one IGG neg & IGM equiv).

I am terrified she may have this dreaded thing! but in order to have everyone except that we have to go through all of the standard tests to make sure it isn't something else.

It's terrible but everytime a test comes back "normal" and they say there is no reason for her to be experiencing this I want to scream!

Her PC doc called me yesterday with the first "I think she may be depressed." I was wondering how long that would take!

Sorry to rant on and on but I don't know what to think at this point.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Lenora

Hello PkGrep!

I have 2 children I am fighting lyme with along with myself.

The older one is 7 1/2 and I have not had the extreme things that you are describing, but the pain in the leg and knee she has had for some time.

I think since she has been abx for several months she has not had that problem.

I wish you the answers and best wishes to you and your family.

i have an extended family member, the one who tipped me off to lyme, whose daughter was about 12 or 13 and had a flu that was later followed by stiff knee and some dizziness.

it was lyme.

she took 2 or 3 months of doxy and is a thriving teen. best to look into it and i hope you both do well!

Has your daughter been tested for Lyme?

Could you get her blood tested at Igenex? I think that would be a good place to start.

My 2 kids have Lyme and co-infections. My son has a lot of joint pain, the knees were the 1st to hurt. Then he had headaches and stomach aches.

Both had normal MRIs and CT scans. Pretty much every test was normal until they were seen by a LLMD.

Thank you everyone for the replies. We I am hoping to hear on her MRI's today and if all is normal there our next step will be to get her tested. It's just so hard to watch her going through this - it didn't seem nearly as difficult when it was me!.

Thank you again for all of the support!

Lenora
