I've spoken to quite a few people since I was diagnosed with Lyme and have checked out the Lyme group at Healthboards.com, and I have yet to see/hear of anyone who has just "gotten well"...... Like, I had the flu and now I'm completely over it ......
I am sure hoping that some of you have either gotten "completely well" or know of others who have gotten "completely well" and are just "over it" now.
My husband is supportive at this point, but he, too, is wondering if this is going to be a "forever condition". God, I hope not.
I will really appreciate any info. any of you may have ...... man, I NEED to be able to hope that I can be completely "cured" !!!

Well, I haven't arrived, but I believe it's possible. I do believe it can be completely cured.
It's what's kept me going for almost 20 years! (I was just diagnosed in '02.)

I think I have...I THINK. I may be back in a month taking that back, but my only symptoms now I think are yeast and they are small ones. I just started a martial arts class last week. I also, know another person personally who fully recovered. Keep your chin up. Posted by charlie (Member # 25) on :
Maybe not 'completely' but I only have to do a round of abx a couple or three times a year, the rounds last maybe two weeks. I function just short of 100 % most of the time....in other words I've got it where it's manageable. I don't wake up in the morning wondering how I'll get thru the day anymore and I've been that way for a couple of years....still I don't claim 'cure'.

Well, I haven't had any abx in... is it 2 years? 1 year? I don't remember right now!
But however long it's been, I've been fine except for the neurological damage (now known to be Parkinson's - permanent, and probably progressive).
My health is great! And I'm having loads of adventures and fun. Often ambidextrously.
But as Lenny alluded to, there are a lot of unknowns and it's never really over 'till it's over... so remind me to post an update after I drop dead of a heart attack from all the activity I'm doing!

Here is one of the few places where I agree with my friend Danq. I too am what I concider recovered. I do have some permenant neuro damage but day to day I function so long as I don't stress myself out too much. If I do I get dizzy and ringing in my ears, at worse I will have a seizure but that has only happened once since stopping my abx in the summer and I have lived through Frances and Jeanne. So I am definately not the mess I was when I first came on here.
I also think some of my neuro sx are yeast related at this point due to holiday eating...okay I am weak, but who can resist momma's ravioli's???

Hi,I don't know,I have been fighting for 21 years ,had a picline with 3 months rocephin,had tons of various oral ABX but never stayed on longer than 3 months untill now.I have had allmost 6 months benzathine penn,deep intramuscular injections,and have ran out of herxes,for lyme. I intend to keep going as long as I can taking the injections. (I think I can beat the lyme),but am not shure about beating the babbs. MADDOG

doggie, don't mark on that bush over there, it's Artemesia - get some of it (in the form of artemisinin) from the good folks at Allergy Research Group and kill those Babsie worms!

I actually asked my LLMD about this the last time I was there.
I was told that there is no real "cure" at this time, but that there is a good chance you can go into remission and not relapse. (Which is obviously what we're all working towards!)
Once it's chronic it's always in your body with the chance of becoming active again.

Good Question, one I was asking myself in April of last year....
In all probability, I have had lyme for over 10 years...I was diagnosed in June of 2001 and was on antibiotics until I took myself off of them in April of 2004.
I felt I was as good as I was ever going to be and felt I should go off antibiotics and see how I did.
Here I am nearly 9 months later and I am doing well. I was hospitalized in June for Viral Encephalitis..and I was told it probably took me longer to recover due to my weakend immune system due to lyme...
But other than that, I am doing well. I went from barley being able to walk, I couldn't use my right hand, i had bad neuro symptoms, joint pain and was on pain killers just to help get me through the day...
Now here I am... off all meds and I was even able to work part time this fall...
the best part is having the energy to play with my children again!
So sure I have bad days from time to time, but I have far more good ones. Am I completely cured? I don't know..but I am better and I wake up every day thankful for that.
