Hi, My son was diagnosised with Lymme in October 2004, probally due to his tick bite in June 2004. His ped put him on Amoxil for 14 days and felt that was enough, I did not, found a llmd who put him on zithromax. My prescription plan was depleted. In order to extend our benefit the Union we have our insurance with sent us a letter for the Doctor to sign and the Dr would not, since the letter basically said Mike would die with out the medecine. It was such an awful letter to begin with I really did not want the Dr to sign it, we are talking about an 8 year old here. So the Union says I can write a letter for the board of trustees to review and decide if they want to up our insurance, so I as wondering if anyone can suggest some good articles to print out showing the importance of long term ( more than 2 weeks) anti biotic treament, and the compilcations that could occur with out it. I have anappointment for Mike today with the llmd, and my older son is sick with two prescriptions so I could very well wipe my 2005 benefit out in 1 day , Thanks for any help, Hillary

Would the ILADS guidelines be of any use, I wonder. Someone recently said they had been posted on the internet.

Hillary, sorry to read about your dilemna.
Yes, I think Lou was referring to ILADS being on MEDICAL section here.
Also, I'd like to suggest emailing privately BITING BACK who has an 8 year old son w/lyme also. She may have some advice for you.
She also is EXTREMELY sick right now so if you don't hear from her back promptly, that is why! She's struggling with every imaginable think going wrong with her ALL at the same time. Best wishes. Betty G., Iowa
