I'll first say that I have not yet been dx'd with lyme. Second, I am only 18.
I first had neuro symptoms, had blood tests done, and am redoing the lyme test as it came back negative last time.
I know the blood tests are unreliable, so I'm nearly positive that this is lyme.
the day after I went to see the neuro, (which he said he didn't think it was MS), my symptoms changed or added, I should say. Now, on top of the tingling I had headaches all the time, muscle pain, joint pain and stiff joints, and a stiff neck.
My symptoms have gotten so much worse over the last couple of days. Today, I felt so sick all I did was lie around. My bones or muscles hurt. My joints - particularly my knees - hurt. My head aches incessantly.
However, my family thinks I am becoming a hypochondriac. They tell me that I'm fine. Or that this is totally unrelated and that I just have the flu. (possible, though unlikely I think). My dad told me to get up and I'd feel better. "Stop thinking about it. It's better not to focus on physical ailments" he said. How can I ignore pain??
I need to go back to the doc. I can't do anything, but my family thinks I'm overreacting because I don't "look" sick.
I can't remember.....did you get a Western Blot ordered or not?

I have not yet had the western blot done. I want to - but how do I go about doing that? I am currently seeing a neuro, not an LLMD.
I'm not sure where the nearest LLMD is, but as far as I can tell - he/she is in north carolina.
Considering my parents don't think is anything wrong with me, I doubt they will drive me to North Carolina - I'm in Georgia!

Can you get the neuro to order the Western Blot? You can get the kit from Igenex, and have him draw the blood and send it in. http://www.igenex.com

It sounds very much like a bad combination of at least two diseases: 1) Lyme disease 2) doctors' ignorance about lyme disease I was very lucky that I noticed the ticks-- otherwise I might still be getting sicker and sicjer, not knowing why. The medical 'professionals'...s in this country are ignorant of lyme disease. As someon mentioned, you should be tested by Igenex or Bowen labs-- these labs are at the forefront of research in lyme and are more likely to find it, if it is there. And your symptoms are classiv. Do you remember any tick ticks or strange looking (ring-like rash) insect bites? That would make it virtually certain you have lyme. But it is possible for lyme to be transmitted by blood transfusion or other insects, and possibly sexually, too; it is a blood disease caused by a spirochete type of bacterium. Do you remember a time when you were outdoors quite a bit (camping, horse riding, gardening, swimming in lakes, etc), and several weeks later had a "summer flu", with aches and fever? Unexplained rashes? these symptoms would just about clinch it. I had my blood tested at Bowen Research in Florida, and they found the lyme (and coinfections, too, which in my case were very important.)
