Does anyone living near there know what the weather is supposed to be doing? We have been watching about the LOTS of snow in New England and they talked about CT on our news!!
I looked on the computer weather thing and it looked like snow tomorrow but not Sat. I will be attempting vehicular navigation ALONE from Hartford so, beware!!!
Very LYMED Southern driver (who shouldn't drive on a good day) will be operating a small rental vehicle in the snowy/icey areas of your neighborhood!!!
I have been trying to find some clothing that would be warm enuf - we will definitely be "layering" as we have no snow clothes!! The look will be kind of eclectic at best!
I tried to go find a hat and scarf this week and nada, zilch, zero!! Only bathing suits, tank tops and capri pants!!
Basically, will be okay unless I slide us into a snow drift or something!! Cuz, we really won't be going out much! To the doc and the pizza place - that's our itinerary!!!
Thanks for any info anyone might have!!! Cross ya'll's fingers!
Sherry and Katie

KK is psyched about the SNOW - she tells me to just deal w/ it and let her enjoy her "dream"!! We both really want to see snow - me just no wanna fly or drive in it!!!
Thanks Shaz and Lisa - I'll bookmark that TV station thingy!! I have been looking at the "instant weather" channel on our satellite!! Yesterday it said no snow on Saturday and now it say snow
I hope it doesn't affect our flight! I will be a HUGE basket case until we land!! Our appt isn't until Monday so, if we can't get to Ronald McDonald land on Saturday - I can use the ole plastic for a room, be still and not endanger anyone!!!
Thanks again,
Sherry

And the flight should go well too. Hang in there!

We have a saying in New England about the
weather...."If you don't like it, just wait
a minute." Mark Twain

I don't know if you have a TJ Maxx (or a Marshall's - same co.) in your area but the one in NW Houston (Jones @ 1960) still has hats and gloves on the clearance rack. Lined leather gloves for $3-7. Columbia outdoor gloves for $3 (orig. $24 in regular stores); fleece hats for $2-5; fleece socks for $5. Scarves too.
You might let your fingers do the walking in your area.
You'll find that your usual winter jackets will be fine up there. I survived a snowy Chicago visit with a fleece hoodie under a nylon shell, sweater and turtleneck underneath. Bring layers and you can't go wrong.
Hope you have a very positive and fruitful visit.
Sue
Dr. J's office just called to verify the appt and tried to scare the poo out of me!! She acted like it was gonna snow so much the plane might not fly? I hope not!! but, I built in 2 1/2 days to get there so, hopefully we make it!!
Sue - thanks for the shopping tip but, all we have here is Walmart, Walgreens and some dollar stores!! I called some friends and we have borrowed some scarfs and gloves!! Had one pair but, Katie's were too little!!
Artist - must be that saying applies everywhere!! The other day we had 70 + degrees, some high wind and some rain/hail and then the temp dropped to 50 in one day!! Katie's chicken project was suffering!! They are supposed to stay at constant 70 degrees w/ these variations we are having problems!! Night before last it was 35 when it was only supposed to go to 40 or 45!!!
Shaz - I know what you mean about talking to bus drivers!! Katie is on a school trip to the LIvestock show today - they left at 5am. This my first month in her life to let her go w/out one of us w/ her!! That and trying to pack - is killing me!!
I'm trying to pack right now - but as u can see am distracted once more!!
thanks again, Sherry

good luck tomorrow

Y'All Texans spoiled with good weather!!
Heck, Houston provides it's own sort of driving lessons--just not snow and ice.
Just stop by the Academy sports and outdoors on the way to Inter-Continental and pick up some snow shoes!!( Just kidding ya!!)
If it gets too bad the day of the doctors' appt., maybe you could call a cab to come and get you--no sense taking chances.
Stay warm, and think of all us poor yankees that have/had to live with that white stuff all the time!! LOL!
I was a lazy gal--just drove the SUV over the white stuff and packed it down--no shoving for me!!
It will melt come spring (or July 4th, whichever comes first)
Anyway...Take Care, good luck, and maybe you and the kiddo can have a snow-ball fight!!
Hey, there was left-over winter stuff at the Foley's at Woodlands Mall!! You could call and see what they have left!!
I'm about to unpack and repack cuz I think I have too much!! Trying to keep us to one checked in bag!!!
Whew - can't wait to get this over-with!!!

------------------
but then it's going to be 44 on Sunday....roller coaster ride again!
I think I need to meet up with Sue and Yankee next time I head to Houston! Sounds like you're relatively close to my brother's house. Probably closer to Yankee.
Good luck ponytail!

Yep, feel free to come on over!!
Hope Ponytail(Miss Sherry) knows I was just kidding her with my above posting
Flights went good - saw only "left over" snow!! Made the drive A-OK and arrived in New Haven safe and sound!! (no one was killed or injured in the transportation of these two texans)!!
We have already had the snowball fight and built a "hot" snow-woman w/ a way cool hat from ACADEMY (yankee) and a nifty pink scarf w/ some pink sunglasses to match!
I am beyond tired and can't wait to lay down! Of course, Katie wants to know what is for dinner!!! Hmmmmm - I'm thinking whatever the McDonald house has in the kitchen!! No more driving for me today!!
Thanks everyone for your support!!! Now, I can begin fretting about the trip home!! LOL
Sherry and Katie - snow girlz!

Glad you gals got there safe and sound
You now are offical **Snow Bunnies**( He He He!!)
It was about 80 in Houston today--partly cloudy and windy on our side of the town
Stay warm!!
The beautiful snow we experienced upon arrival has now frozen several times and turned into ice piles
I can so see that this would get way old way fast!!! I think maybe I need to be in the middle of the country! Is there a place where is in the 60's or 70's and not humid?? That would be the place for me!!
Katie's appointment went well! He feels she is making progress as the neuropsych results showed improvement! We will come back before school starts for an update and to see if she needs any different mods on her 504 plan!!
The ketek was continued but now will add plaquenil. Katie was very happy that it wasn't Mepron that was added - she is not a good med taker!!!
Tomorrow we head back to Hartford if I don't get us lost!! I've done so well so far and I hope my good luck doesn't wear out!!
We have eaten so much we are about to POP!!! We found our fav pizza place "Abates Pizza and Seafood"!!! Yummy pizza!
Anyway, thanks so much for listening to my fretting and for the good wishes!! Ya'll are my good luck charms!!
Sherry and Katie
PS - if I can figure out how, I'm gonna try to put on a pic of Katie in the snow!! She was soooo funny!!!
