Hi!
I made the mistake of telling the nurses that come here that I was experiencing some tinnitus which worsened after the IV's.Tonight I got a phone call to tell me that they had contacted my LLMD in Sydney and he had told them to stop my IV's due to the tinnitus.Didn't tell them what to do instead though.

Shall find out tomorrow what is going on.

I didn't think the tinnitus would be a reason to stop the meds.

Anyone else had this happen or know why they would take it so seriously .

Thanks ,Sue.

P.S.Had another lyme test and it is still coming up IgG and IgM positive .Good and not good.

I have had numerous experiences with nurses and pharmacists while on I.V. for 2 1/2 years and I would suggest that if it is not serious, just tolerate the symptom as long as you can. I had the same situation happen to me only the pharmacist at the I.V. company called the doctor without my knowledge and I was really upset since the symptom I was having did not warrant a phone call to the doctor. I told the pharmacist that in the future to notify me first before calling him. In my case the doctor did not withdraw the I.V. and my symptom was a bit more serious than tinnitus but my doctor treats very aggressively. I would say that it's important to use your judgement when a symptom arises since it sounds like your doctor is very cautious. I too had all kinds of ear noises while on I.V. Zithromax-it sounded as if an explosion was taking place in my head at times and I was terrified but my doctor said to keep going. Hope this helps!

I had tinnitus as a side effect of Zithro, both oral and IV. Usually the tinnitus would go away after a few weeks or months off the Zithro but the last time it wasn't so easy to get rid of it. I still have some lingering tinnitus - could be a Lyme symptoms, could be permenant damage from the zithro, not sure.

I hope you find something else to go on instead!

The Zithromax does that, you just have to grin and bear it. They may lower your dose or switch you to every other day. If you are on 1000 mg IV Zithro, they may drop it down to 500 mg IV. Unless its something really painful and getting worse, I would try to not say anything to anymore nurses.
IV Zithro is a great drug.
