YES!
My mother gave it to me and my two other sisters. I gave it to my three sons. My sister gave it to her son. We are now trying to stop the cycle.... we are all in treatment.
Bb is in the blood and the breast milk. I nursed all of my sons. But I was not nursed.
If you are pregnant, there are some thigs for you to read..

Not sure yet if my son has it
He hasn't shown any signs of it except his eczema when he was first born
I pray every night that he didn't get it from me but I know there is a high probability he did
My husband all of a sudden started showing Lyme symptoms and he now has Lyme. He and I both believe (and our doctor agrees) my husband got Lyme from me. It makes sense and he is not an inside person, we have no outdoor animals, he doesn't even walk in grass or under trees to get to work - I just can't see him getting bitten by a tick...
MANY ppl on Lymenet say that they gave their children Lyme

JillF, Sorry to hear about you, your husband and your son.
My nephew's first sigh of lyme was severe eczema when he was born. But my sister was much worse off then me when I had my kids. My sister, previous to the birth of her son had a blood transfusion which she got all kinds of goodies -- like babesia, mycoplasma, erlichiosis and bartenella. Which her son, we think was born with. He still has alot of symptoms but has been improving over the years.
My sons all had mild cases of eczema at birth until they were about 3 or 4 years old.
Hopefully its nothing, but I would not wait... Get him tested by a good LLMD. The sooner he gets treatment the faster he will heal.
My twin sons are almost 19, and are now in treatment. My youngest son is 14. I wish I had know when they little. Because now they are all in "late stage lyme"

Yep - I believe so!
My child was diagnosed at age 12. She also has Cerebral Palsy so, no outside activity or exposure to ticks.
I was undiagnosed until she was about 10 y/o.
I didn't breastfeed so, we (Dr. J and I) are resonably certain it was gestational.
So far, she's been positive for Lyme and Bartonella. We suspect Babs too since all have been found in me!
Hubby also has at least Lyme and tested + the same year. Not that symptomatic.
Doc felt we were trading it back and forth - causing possible changes in the disease itself.
I continue to not respond to tx very well but, since 8 months on Mepron/Zith - have made a tiny bit of improvement.

Well my son and I just came back from our family Dr. and he was very pointed that it is not passed while pregnant. I just can't believe the lack of support regarding this!!!! Time to find another Dr. He said the tingling in my sons spine is nothing and it all looks normal and that maybe he has some behavioural issues that we need to deal with!!!! He would not even consider testing my son!!!!

Gosh, I am sorry about your stupid Dr.! Unfortunately I think most of us have had similar experiences.
I hope you can find a LLMD close to where you live.

My child had a droppy lip at birth. When I asked the doc why he told me he was sorry my child wasn't symetrical enough. That was at his 6-week "well baby" exam. It took us 7 years and countless infections, (ear, nose, throat) before he finally got diagnosed.
Other child was "failure to thrive." I was told to not worry about it by the same doctor. When I had my children tested and tried to talk to my ped about it he would not discuss their Western Blots with me. I found another pediatrician.

Is lyme transmitted through sexual contact? If so why don't they add it to the list of STD's? Why is haven't we done more research on this disease. From all that I have learned it is very serious and it seems as though a lot of people unintentionally have given it to people. What does it have to be in order for it to be given the name of STD?

There is not enough research done yet on the subject. They are just unsure. I believe it is sexually transmitted. I believe I gave it to my husband (he has never been tested yet) I know for sure I gave it to all my kids through birth.
I don't know if you have read this or not? Some of this conversation is pretty ADULT, but alot of good information.
I can vouch for this as both of my sons have it and they have never been exposed to ticks as they seldom ever went outside as children.. you say how cruel... it was notmy idea it was the contrling influence of their father. but to add to this, both my sister and I have it ( we were checked every night for ticks and found an average of at least 1 per week since we lived in the woods flat lands of New Jersey!!!) and both my parents were found to have it, and my grandmother was found to have it, but wrote it off as old age at the ripe age of 87.
My grandfather died before the family found out about this at age 63 after a triple by pass due to serious heart disease... I suspect they talked about the Fibrogen in the blood (causes excessive cloting) which seems most people infected with Lyme Disease seem to have a thickness to their blood. I know mine was extremely thick before starting treatment and thined out a great deal after a year of abx. now that I have stopped treatment My blood is extremely thick again which may explain High blood pressure most recently.. I'll know more tomorrow. AS for passing it via birth YES!!!! and sexually I beleive I agree to that one also. Lyem disease is a cousin to syphilis so you do the scientific deductions...
I need to add this I have to call next week to find out if my sons heart condition has subsided he was diagnosed with first degree heart block at age 6, I was not told this until 3 years later when the cardiologist finally obtained my husbands medical records and after reading that his halter monitor indicated that my son was also showing symptoms of what his father had , he told me that it is not likely he will ever recover from the heart block but it may not progress.
I had a halter done on him about 18 months ago and they said they found nothing. I will not rule that they may have missed something and I will wait until the second opinion comes in. On the call I received yesterday I was told that so far the halter looked fine but they were looking at something else and I should call "so and so" in a week when they are done reviewing the tape. Maybe the heart condition is reversable if treatment is provided early enough!. or then maybe not I will let you all know..next week!
